911&Porsche world
#1

Anyone seen the November 911&Porsche world magazine? It's

the 200th issue of the magazine.

It has an article on a supercharged 968. They claim an extra

100 horsepower. The article was probably written before

Flash completed his supercharger.

Overall, it's a good issue.

I haven't seen the issue yet but the claims a 100HP gain leads me to believe its a Speed force SC kit.

Not Speedforce, but the other SC product. I expect that there will be glowing press on the D1R kit before the dust settles.

yup - it's the other kit - i read the article

the hp claims are from the manufacturer - the user said he was dismally disappointed at the dyno runs he did, and the output was nowhere near the claims - he also complained about a number of other things about the kit, and continues to do so - i think he's on his third belt now

it's funny how people interpret something from an article, and when it comes to something like this, often read through rose colored glasses

the author kept trying to say good things about the kit, but kept running into its shortcomings - read it again - you'll probably see everything the second time through

and what the heck is up with all that engine bay? what a mess - how about that dryer hose and rainbow tape? love the blob-o-electical tape at the MAF too - hoses criss-crossing everywhere - way too much color too - i like a little tastefully added color and decoration, but WOW! reminds me of the kid's rice-grinder cars

but, to each his own there - certainly not everybody likes what i've done to mine

You definitely have to read through most magazine articles to get beyond the BS. Authors love to glamorize their subject matter. In my field " hvac contractor" magazines notoriously glorify installation projects which supposedly are the best in the industry. Seeing some of them in person, and correcting problems I am not impressed. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

yup - one look at the engine bay photo, and you can see some of the design issues - i'm frankly a bit surprised at how these were missed by those who should have known better - perhaps, due to their own political agendas, they just didn't want to comment, but i think it does a disservice to the potential buyer not to point things out that might be problems - it's still ultimately up to them as to what to do, but at least they would have full information upon which to base a decision

the upside is that more people might now think about the 968, and if they do their homework and find their way here, they can then read up and make intelligent decisions, and maybe we get a new friend

Man, Now I'm dieing to read it. I have to swing by Target tonight so I could go the long way and pass the Barnes and Noble. Mags like 911 and Excellence are hard to find.

So does the SF kit actually add 110HP?

the kit in the article is not the SF kit - it is carl's kit - no, it did not add anywhere near that on that car - in fact, for the time he could keep the belt intact, i think he said it added about half of that

The owner of this car has posted a diary of the trials and tribulations of the SC install in his car here. Fair to say it has not been plain sailing.

yeah - it's sad really, but all of the problems were foreseen - the vendor just didn't want to spend the time and money to work out the bugs, and rushed it to market when it wasn't ready

the truly sad thing is that the bigger problems haven't even shown up yet, but they will, if anybody ever gets it running long enough to put any real miles on it

but at least the 968 is getting press

Would be nice to read but I don't really want to buy a 968UK window sticker. Does it constitute copyright infringement, due to their forced donation, to cross post the thread?

they probably have a content copyright, the same as we do - but, the author holds the same copyright privileges, so if you get his permission, you can post anything he gives you permission for - be prepared to provide written proof of that permission in the event of any action the site may take
