Now that is strange - since the guy who bought it from an estate promised the family that it would always be displayed under the original owner's name and some other stipulations.

The original owners name is on a plaque on the dash. That would probably be the first thing I removed.

I can't imagine that this car would be available so soon after the article. I'm guessing the asking price is the $150k or more. With the amount of work that went into acquiring the car you would think the owners would want to enjoy it but I guess with a car of that mileage you can't really enjoy it, just look at it. It should be in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

The museum probably already has a zero mile 911T... But I am not sure. I had heard somewhere that Porsche always kept the first and last of each model. If that's true, I don't know when they started/stopped doing it, so they might just have the very first 911T that rolled off the assembly line.

Nonetheless, that is a neat car and I remember reading the article. Early 911 cars are really taking off in value right now from what I can tell.

had a tour of truespeed motorsports recently.

I didn't attend, but it probably would have been
there.

A Jerry Seinfeld type of collector will probably
buy this.

i just have to shake my head on this one - i don't get the attraction at all - that body is the least attractive to me of all the 911s - it most closely resembles it's bug origin, and i hate that car - it's the same thing but flattened out - i like it even less when it starts up and runs - reminds me of a lawnmower at idle and an old hoover at road speed - i think the only one i dislike worse is the 912

but, to each his own - i can respect it and still not like it, and it is a clean example

I love the 356, my other Porsche is a 356B. They are so much fun to drive. Nothing like 968 of course, its like comparing a wheelbarrow to a skateboard, but massively entertaining and rewarding to drive. I find the same to be true of the early 911s. They scare you whittles, but they are sooooo much fun.

yeah - i guess it's perspective - i never liked the way any of those drove either - i had a lot more fun in a smaller lighter british sports car, and went faster

but as i said, i can still respect it without liking it, and that one is clean

A prominent private collection - one of the larger outside of the Porsche museum - is nearby me here in NC. The cars are all ridiculously low mileage and rare examples - 'a 72 911S driven for a while by Ferry in a one of a kind color with a unique interior and 3000 miles' kind of collection. I would not have chosen hardly any of the cars new for their colors or options. But to see such pristine cars, some more than 50 years old now, is a treat. It is like entering a time warp. Some literally still smell new. To his credit, the collector does take the cars out for a spin occasionally. Every once in a while he will arrive at our Saturday morning coffee at the wheel of something special - but only if there is not a cloud in the sky!

At a certain point, the value of a car due to its original condition and low mileage outweighs the relative driving experience. This 911T may be the only one that is still in such new, 'preservation,' condition. It is a museum piece and should be treated as such. In addition, it can provide an invaluabe example for the restoration of other cars. Again, I am surprised the car is for sale. Perhaps the seller has been hurt by the economy. I can't think of another reason to go back on the promises he made to the family - if the Excellence article was accurate.

I would love to have it - and would love to have the money to have it come to think of it. And if I had it I would trailer it to a show once in a while, and that would be about it. But I would also have an early 911S that I drove the snot out of.
