3M Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap on dash trim
#1

I know the guys here either love or hate any sort of spiffed up interior trim. My last Boxster had painted interior pieces to match the exterior and I like that. It's not that easy on the 968. But for me the plastic dash trim just looked to cheap and plain. Hate wood. Not a fan on stick on carbon fiber trim or brushed steel. The fit never quite looks right. Painting the dash trim was on option but I think it might have been too much in a stark black interior. I saw this guys BMW 3 series that had a bunch of carbon fiber wrap inside and out. It looked really nice on the interior trim. So I asked him to give my car a shot. I'll post more photos when I get it all back together but I like what I see so far. Very meticulous. Pattern matches from window switches across the dash to the other window switches. Charged me $160. Not affiliatled with him but his facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/eurotechwraps

ok - i absolutely hate the fact that it's carbon fiber. that boy racer look has always bugged me, and it's ironic that it was a complete accident that this ever came to light (there is a pretty cool story about that). i think it makes things looks cheap, and i'm glad the fad is dying out.

that being said, i have to say he did an excellent job of fitment and contour, and i wonder if he has other films he can apply. i won't use facebook, and have it blocked from all of my computers, so i can't see if he does or not.

He had a stack of all different colors and textures that he could do. There was even a brushed aluminum one.

Here's a BMW steering wheel he did. He actually did the leather cover on the wheel and the red/blue stitching by hand. His name in Man Ip.

That looks a LOT better than that super-glossy bubble-looking stick-on carbon fiber trim I've seen before! That guy does great work. Are you going to cover your center console area as well? Please post some more pics for us once you get the pieces in the car.

I wanted to see the finished product but I will most likely get the radio/shift boot surround done as well. I will post more pics when I get it installed.

I will post more photos with better light and a better camera. Grabbed this on my way out the door this moring with my phone. I'm very happy. It's much more subtle than this photo appears but it is pretty cool the way the color shifts when light is reflected off it. More photos tonight.

i'm glad you're happy. that being said, this is making me rethink the wood, but not because i like the carbon fiber.

what i notice now, that i do not notice with the black plastic, is that the airbag and glove box left and right edges line up visually, but they do not have a similar separation/joint crossing the dash strip. that looks odd. it doesn't stand out until you put the carbon there, but it really jumps out at me now.

not sure what it would look like in wood. i'm going to have to research that more.

Looks good ... on black.

Don't think it would look as good on my dark blue dash, even thought the trim piece is black!

On an all-black interior, the carbon look does give some visual interest. I think on any non-black interior, it's just not necessary. Unless that's your thing - to each his own.

Flash I see what you mean about the 'cohesiveness' of the right side of the dash strip. But let's face it - the arrangement of switches and dials along the whole median strip is a visual disaster. That Porsche didn't redesign this area for the 968 is criminal negligence!

Got some better photos. Need some work on the piece to the left of the dash but the rest of it is in. Tonight I'll be installing my new red seat belts!
