May even be some familiar faces on the website from last year.

How many 968 Register Members and other 968 owners on this site are planning to bring their 968 Coupes and Cabriolets to Hershey for the Porsche Only Swap Meet?

No promises, but if there is a lot of interest, I may commit to step in to see about a discount rate for a 968 Hotel, a Friday buffet and 968 parking at the Swap (maybe even a Tech Session). Our 968 Register, Jeff Coe, recently took ill and underwent a major operation (he is recuperating at home now - you can send get will wishes/prayers to Jeff at

jeffery.coe@snet.net

and I am praying that he will be ok by then and be able to bring his "Minty Cab" (with son Greg, of course) to the Swap.

Will there be another 968 Gathering during the 2009 Swap Meet? Depends on your participation!

P.S. Once we get a committed list of 968s coming to Hershey, I will then decide whether to commit to act as Local Coordinator. If someone else in the Hershey area wants to Coordinate, that is fine too.

P.S.S. For those that do not know me, I am the fellow holding up the 968 Celebration red sign. Jeff Coe, Register Advocate, and other 2008 Gathering attendees are in the photo before. They mention a 968 owner winning furthest distance in 2003 - well, that was Bob Blackwell. So, the Hershey Swap Meet has become very "968 oriented".

Don,

You know I will put in an appearance. Probably just drive up the morning of and caravan in with the 968's. Probably no dinner/hotel, but I look forward to seeing 968ers at Hershey every year.

Porsche Only Swap Meet will be held on Saturday, April 25 in Hershey, Pa (the first post gives the website address for more info). This is the largest gathering of Porsches in the World!

Don

P.S. If you are not familiar with the Porsche Only Swap Meet or the 968 Celebration or 968 Gatherings that have been held concurrently check this website for more info or www.968register.org for photos, etc.

I have never been able to turn down a RedBaron invite - so, Don, if you put something together, I'm in.

As of right now it is $120 a night.

They have a bar and restaurant and its about 5 miles from Hershey.

The 944 guys usually throw a banquet which is usually pretty fun.

DiREWOLF,

The 3rd post on this thread shows the Swap Meet website address, with an icon for lodging, which is not complete yet. If there are 40 or more owners bringing their 968s, I will consider negotiating with the Holiday Inn in Grantville, to again sign a contract for a discount rate. Otherwise, check the Swap Meet website later for detailed list of available hotels. Do not wait too long to let me know if you are bringing your 968 and need a discounted nice room, and facilities, at the Holiday Inn.

If we have 40 plus cars, I will consider again hosting a 968 buffet dinner at the Holiday Inn on Friday night, if there is interest in having it. Also, note that the Swap Meet Autocross is being held on Sunday.

Please note on the Swap Meet website, there is an error. The Concours judging will include the 968 Turbo RS and Turbo S under Class C and the 968 Coupe and Cabriolet under Class D.

For those that have been to the Swap Meet/968 Celebration/968 Gathering in Hershey, you know the benefits of coming. For those that have never been here, it is one of the best places to get parts, meet other 968 owners, show off your own 968 and check out other 968s. The 968 Caravan to the Swap Meet Saturday morning is awesome (check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hYBjv8yl3A compliments of Paul Anthony from the 2008 Gathering).

I have grown too old to wait until the last minute, as previously was done, to confirm who is coming to the event. If you guys and gals want another 968 Gathering during Swap Meet, here is your chance to let me know prior to February 1st. After that, it will be too late to negotiate/plan a discount rate or evening event.

Porschedude,

I thing it is a good idea to start a new thread to see who is confirming that they definitely will be bringing their 968 Coupe, Cabriolet, Club Sport, Sport, Turbo S or Turbo RS:

1. Don Hassenbein with my Guards Red 1994 968 Coupe (as the 968 Gathering Local Host for 40 plus owners bringing their 968s -- or -- attending the Swap Meet and able to get together with any 968 owners who show up)

2 - 40 ?????

Options:

1: Two day 968 Gathering with 968 Buffet Dinner Friday night, stay at Holiday Inn Grantville Friday night (paid discount rate of $109 plus tax last year), 968 Caravan to Swap Meet on Saturday morning with group parking or Concours parking.

2: One day 968 Gathering, stay at Holiday Inn Grantville Friday Night, 968 Caravan to Swap Meet on Saturday morning with group parking or Concours parking.

3: 968 Get To Gether at the Swap Meet - see you there Saturday morning (will provide my cell phone number later).

Which option would you prefer?
