17inch 993 Cup (Cup 2)
#41

If you can find them in the correct offset and tire size it is a straight swap. By the way Wim also sounds like a Dutch name?

Thanks for the quick response! Actually it's WLM968, so I'm sorry, I'm not lucky enough to be Dutch.

Hi Gents,

Sorry to break into the Dutch vs. English conversation, however I have a question regarding 993 CUP Wheels (17")

I finally stopped waiting for the correct 7.5" front rims and pulled the trigger on a set of the 993 rims from a 1995 993 that were replaced in 1997 and waiting in an attic for me .

Obviously, after all that time the tires are toast...

So, just to be perfectly clear, the best possible size of tires for these wheels on my 968 are...

255/40/17 (Rear)

225/45/17 (Front)

RIGHT???

Don't mean to be grouchy, but all this tire/wheel/spacers/offset things leaves me very confused...

Thanks,

Jay

Thanks for the help...I settled on the Sumitomo HTR Z III...about $500 from Tire Rack. They are going to be installed on Saturday. Until then, wheels are safely hidden in the garage (oh honey, I've had those things for years, you never pay attention...LOL)

As long as this is the only thing we keep "secret" from "honey" then it's OK

She kind of "knows" that I pamper the 968, we just don't talk about the "standard maintenence" items that sometimes need to be taken care of, (example: my differential was open, and that's very bad, so it needed to be replaced with OS Giken).

The only other thing I haven't told her is that I've been doubling mortgage payments so I can surprise her with the deed to the house sooner, rather than later.

Then you'll have more money available for the 968.

Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. Or better yet not discuss it at all! Law school taught me to only answer questions that were asked. Not what one knew they meant to ask or to elaborate. This training has serve me well!
