if you're having troubles posting here lately.....
#1

recently we went through some big software changes - this required setting everyone to "lurker" - post histories and all of that was retained, but to return to your previous level, you need to post - each post will take you up one level, until you reach the appropriate level, which is based on your post count

each level has different and increasing permissions - this is to help control spam and such

for example:

lurkers cannot post ads or pics, or upload

newbies cannot upload, and have lower pic size restrictions

we apologize for any interim inconvenience

over the last couple of months there has been a lot of new activity, and the return of some long dormant members - consequently there have been those who failed to read the announcements, and also have failed to read the tutorial

this means that they do not know about the changes, and where things are located - they also do no understand about their member level, and what that means to permissions, and wonder why they cannot post in some areas, and cannot upload or start threads

this is what happens when all you do is click "view new posts" - not everything shows up there anyway, so it is not all that helpful - as time goes on, there will be more and more added into areas that do not report to that search tool, so you'll miss out on a lot if that is all you do

if you have not done so, please go back and read the tutorial

permissions increase with member level - participation is how you get there - as a lurker, you get very little - get involved and get more permissions
