recently there have been some changes made, which in the end will make things better for everyone, but will probably take a bit of getting used to, and may be temporarily frustrating for some
first, until everyone catches back up to their previous member level, you may or may not be able to post what you want and where you want
different levels of members have different levels of permissions - this is to help limit spam, and facilitate correct posting methods as new members learn how the site works - as an example, lurkers cannot post any pics or start treads in the classifieds - newbies have more size restrictions than rookies or members
in creating this, everyone was bumped back down to lurker - one level at a time, one level per post, you will be restored back to your previous level - this may take as many as 3 posts to get you from lurker back to member
there are also changes in the DIY library - this is an incredibly valuable section, but only if used as intended - this category has been abused by those who merely wanted to start a topic about something - to be clear, this is for DIY sets only - this area is for step by step instructions on how to fix something - this area is NOT for conversation - this area is not for trying to figure something out, or discuss how to fix something - this area is not for wandering chats off topic
chat about a particular repair is always welcome, but there are mirrored categories in the repair and technical sections for that - this is where you can work something out - then, when it gets resolved, and somebody comes up with a great way to do something, a DIY can be written and posted in the library
over the next couple of weeks, the DIYs will be trimmed down and distilled and edited to their basic instructional format, and weed out all of the conversation and chit chat that has muddied up so many of them
until further notice, if you have a DIY to post, contact a moderator or the admin - they will post it for you, or arrange for you to be able to post it - replies can still be posted, but we implore you to keep these to specific comments about the DIY, and not your personal experiences, ways your father would have done it, or idle chat about the other car you saw at a shop while you were getting this same repair done
as for other areas, you may find a topic moved - this is most often because somebody started it in the wrong place - PLEASE try to use some common sense and start a topic where it belongs, not where you want to read it because that is the section you used to go to - it will help all of us in the end if these things are organized - it will also save us a lot of work if we don't have to move topics around every day, as we do now
