Perhaps.. it wouldn't be the first time I missed out on some good rides..

Ok, I maybe will consider taking back what I said about Elise but staying tough on Tesla which looks close to an
Elise but to make things worse sounds like a sewing machine.

So :
Boxster - a wise chick's car.
Elise - a racer chick car
VW bug cabrio - if you're a guy and you drive that car you deserve every bit of ridicule... unless you're a UFC/MMA cage fighter in which case.. hey, rocking ride dude !
968 - a chick magnet car

Elise is not a chick car by any means, ... so quick and agile that it feels like you are sitting in a 200 hp cart - amazing. And the ride sucked - seats were aluminum pans with burlap bags. No AC, no radio, no nothing, but fast and "holy s*** did you see that turn I just made".<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

YES YES YES. The car is a RAW driving experience and that makes it manly. The typical woman will hate that car for the ride quality, while most men appreciate it.

since neither one ( of the two ) women forum members chimed in on this, let's ask our wives or GFs ( or both ) which cars they think are "chick cars" and see what results we get..

my wife categorized the Mercedes 450SL and the 380SL hardtop/convertibles as ones that fit that description ( mostly because that's what she drove for over a decades ) and also " that small, cute Lexus " ..ahem, I presume she means the SC 400. She could not come up with anything else, though in all fairness her knowledge of cars is about as limited as it gets..

The ultimate - it comes with a flower vase!!!!!

We had one in the family for about 8 years, first one daughter, then hand-me-down to the other one. They both loved it.

Are they still doing that? I saw the vase with a plastic flower in a showroom once. WTH! That doesn't belong in a car.

Didn't seem to hurt sales though.

There is nothing more important than raising awareness about this issue. If it even helps one guy and prevents him from making a huge mistake, then we have done an important service for all men everywhere.

What makes a chick car a chick car? I think that one factor is when attempting to "butch" it up fails or only makes it worse.

Alert! IMO, the Mercedes C230 Kompressor is one of those potential mistake cars. The supercharger seems manly but can not hide the estrogen being exuded. Audi A4 cab also possibly in this category.

And there is this. That rear view mirror is begging to have lots of things hanging from it.

Well said, Scott.

Dave, we sold the SL in 1991 when our son was born; opening the door of that car which was 30 ft long and weighed 6,000 lbs ..or at least that's what it felt like.. while trying to place a baby in the car was too much of a chore to put up with for years to come , so she gave the car up but I don't think a week has gone by since, or another old MBZ has driven by without hearing her sigh and mention how much she misses it.. wish we could find another one but the few still running around have some 300k miles on them, leak oil like crazy and consume about as much gas as a Hummer, so not an easy task..

Though no telling the gratitude that may generate

Personally, I like driving the Boxster but not really a fan of the looks or I'd have one in the driveway. They are cheap enough to just have as a beater these days.
I don't fit in the Miata or I'd have been racing spec Miata for years.

I suppose I can see how the Solstice would be labeled as a chick car, and the Saturn Sky had a similar reputation, but IMHO, both are still more manly than Boxsters ( except the very last version of the Boxster S which is dramatically different and, muy macho ! :-) ) Scion FRS is also in that same Sky and Solstice category, and not too shabby looking .. Chick car or not ??

Side note : I really like the Hyundai Genesis coupe's lines, surely the Koreans must have outsourced the design of the car to Italy :-) .

Surely the Pontiac Solstice can't be too manly when the same car, or Jazz, was the first Autobot to be killed in Transformers.

Not sure if it is available in the US, but Lexus make a convertible that is what we refer to as a "hairdresser's" car, so very feminine. The later MX5's seem to have a high female ownership rate (and as Top Gear quoted, two males in one is not the macho look).

Nissan Micras and VW polo's, plus the VW EOS all seem to attract a majority of female owners.

An Audi TT has to be somewhere near the top of the list?
