Windshield replacement??
#1

So the kind people at GEICO are happy to replace my glass but SafeLite Autoglass can't seem to find a replacement without the antenna embedded vertically down the center of the glass... I'm sure I wouldn't even notice it after a few days but I wouldn't mind keeping it as stock as possible. The one I have on the roof of my '92 works just fine. I don't need another one down the middle of the windshield! Any ideas? They had to order the glass from Germany and I hate to make them send it back but would prefer it sans antenna. Thanks all

The coupes do not have the antennae...the cabs do. There are separate part numbers - according to PET:

Coupe is as follows:

944.541.011.13 for clear

944.541.011.12 for tinted

944.541.011.14 for "upper part dark green"

Cabriolet is:

944.541.011.10 is tinted

944.541.011.11 is clear

I just had to replace my 944 windshield and had one WITH the antennae, so the process is fresh in my mind. Fitment should not be an issue and you just wouldn't have anywhere to make the connection with the embedded antennae. Hope that helps.

I don't know about your car, but mine (and several other folks have mentioned) the whip on the roof sucks!, If you can figure a way to use the widshield antennae it might be worth it.

Darryl,

Thanks, huge help! Saved me a ton of time and likely more frustrating phone calls to my insurance company and the glass company. Have it ordered and should be on the way. Again, thank you.
