Who else loves watches?

Paul Newman's iconic watch - a Rolex Daytona - sold at auction last week for $ 17. 8 MILLION !! No idea who bought it, but I wonder what that person would spend for a celebrity's car, or a celebrity's mansion ..

And now, as is the case twice a year, I ( grudgingly ) start the ritual of resetting a multitude of wristwatches and house clocks, as well as cars clocks . Surprisingly, both 968s clocks are still working ..I keep reading those are among the first things to fail in our cars . ! Anyway, in total, I have to reset twenty four , or twenty five timepieces . Ugh, that just takes too much time ...so to speak .. ;-) ;-)

only about 1/3 of them are with battery,  2/3 are automatic .    The cars are all battery  ^_^

I was just thinking, how many 968s would  $ 17.8 Mil buy ?    At our cars average market value  maybe the whole lot of whats left on the road..  :glare:

Why don't you just reset them when you use them? That's what I have found is easiest. Of course if you have nothing else to do but reset your watches.........

I know, that would definitely be the easiest thing to do but I have OCD so I must reset them even if I don' wear them , lol. However, in my ( and my OCD 's ) defense , at least I don't get up at 2 am to do that, so the task is completed typically the evening before .. The automatics are in winding boxes btw, so they're always running - that way the oil does not gel. Similar to our Porsches I guess, if they sit for too long and the components are not frequently lubricated, problems can develop, Ahh, and all these are " first world " problems, aren't they ?!

Considering I've had a Porsche watch ( OK, a couple of different ones ) as long as I've owned Porsches , as I'm approaching one year of owning the Maserati , I'm embarrassed by not having bought a Maserati watch yet . That changed today , as I ordered my Maserati watch. Below are photos of the two watches in consideration : one retails at around $ 12,800 ( great looking tachometer-inspired dial , although both inaccurate since the redline on my car starts at 7500 and goes to 9000 where the fuel cutoff kicks in, and also, I have no friggin' clue how to tell time on this ) , and the other retails at around $ 400 . Guess which one I bought, lol ..?!

If I had won the powerball lottery, maybe .. ( didn't someone in PA win about half a billion just last week or two ? - if you're the one, my birthday is coming up one of these days ..hint, hint )

I bought the cheap one because I needed to save the $ 12,000 to pay for the oil change and the fan belt tensioning service coming up in a couple of months.

It is a good looking watch. I’ve found, perhaps I’m just getting older, that most watches that I look at resemble the ones I already own. Unless of course you dramatically increase the price and get into some bizaro looks. Besides, determining what clothes to wear with what watch everyday can be time consuming. Then when you add which car to drive well half the day or nite is gone!! If wishes were dreams.

Precisely, and one of the reasons I selected a watch with blue in it ..matches the car's color.

Maybe I should be more detailed and say that it matches my favourite group of musical artists from England. Although it is difficult to be precise.
