Who else loves watches?

My everyday watch is a Rolex Submarina that I bought in 1970 for $220.00. Of course I have had maintenance so the total today with cleanings and one rebuild of the watch is now at 2,175.00. I am now considering trading in my two tone gold stainless Rolex for a solid yellow gold Day/Date. I looked at the Sky Dweller but 1) it costs $37,000 2) it felt too heavy on the wrist.

For anyone who thinks $ 56 mil. for a Ferrari GTO ( recently sold ) is " stupid money " , here's something to compare it with ; a wrist watch ( just sold ) : $ 11 mil.

Yes, I am into watches too, nothing as exotic as what has been discussed in this thread though.

The wife and kids just gave me this for my birthday.

Cheers,

Harry.

You do realize that posting pics of things like this give people info on your valuables.

Seriously? That's why I have insurance.

Have you never posted a pic of your car for fear that someone will come and steal it?

Cheers,

Harry.

The internet is a vast trolling network. Yes I have but I stopped for just that reason. Watches and jewelry are easier to steal and sell than a car.

Who said Californians comply with any laws in this State ? We also have speed limit laws ...they're treated with the same apathy as any other rules . We're anarchists dammit , and proud of it !

Ain't that the truth!

Everyone I know in CA is armed, and most are politically moderate to liberal.

I don't understand why conservative people think that liberals are unarmed. The difference in my experience seems to be how they care for their weapons. The moderate/liberal faction understands research and believes the science that tells us that guns are most dangerous when they are uncontrolled, so they keep them locked up. Conservatives seem to be more likely to want immediate access to them, and keep them in their nightstands to use in case their home is ever invaded. Those are the behaviors that create dangerous situations.

Again, just my limited and likely non-representative sample.

On opening day of deer season in Pennsylvania there are more than 750,000 armed citizens hiking through the woods, with barely ever an incident. That number equates to roughly the 5th largest standing army in the world.

Training is what averts dangerous situations, and that is the difference between liberal and conservative gun owners.

I suppose if you practice daily to go up into the back of your closet or to open your safe to retrieve your firearm it's a good idea to keep them locked up. Of course if someone breaks into your house they might not wait for you to retrieve your locked firearm. Nightstand makes perfect sense to me as well as the other places they are located through the house. Perhaps the liberal progressive criminals in CA. are more refined and well mannered and say,"cherry oh mate I've got a moment whilst you retrieve your gun. They don't do that in Pa.

I thought PA was a Quaker state, you know, anti-violence and all that. What would William Penn think!

And the liberal criminals in CA mostly commit their crimes in DC or in the boardroom. It's the apolitical ones I worry about.

I checked with one of my insurance contacts to see what it would cost to insure an $ 11 million dollar wrist watch. He did mnot have specific numbers because it would have to be underwritten and that depends on countless factors and variables, but he did say that in general , it would be a much higher premium than insuring that $ 56 million Ferrari which sold recently . Makes perfect sense , the risk of loss, theft, fraud, is far higher as well.

A Quaker farmer came downstairs one night having heard someone there to find an burglar. He said, raising his gun,'Friend I mean thee no harm but thou art standing where I am about to fire !

Only damage to my 968 ( the daily driver ) from the rain storms and flooding was the mini-flood in the rear foot well, from what it seems was a plugged drain tube.

And I did wear my water resistant watches throughout these rainy couple of months  B)
