Which Wheels?
#1

16" OEM Cup 2s, or 17" Mille Miglia Cup 1s?

Is the weight disadvantage offset by the extra inch?

These aren't for racing, but for 6-8 track weekends per year. Current plan is to use good street tires rather than race rubber.

The 16's would have the advantage of matching what's on the car now so I could mix and match as needed between sets. The 17" MMs are nearby, and inexpensive.

What to do?

Pickwick, in my experience the answer is Yes, the extra inch of width will offset the weight difference. Porsche Factory came to the same conclusion and went to the 17 inch wheels with wider rims when offering the performance option (M030). The 17 inch wheels will also allow larger brakes to be used if you get the "bug" after a few track days and decide to go to "sticky tires" and stiffer suspension. There is a cost saving on using the 16 inch wheels too.....tires are much cheaper than the 17 inch performance tires will be. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

i would first ask the question of what kind of racing? if it's road racking, i would go with the 17s - if it's autocrossing, i would stay with the 16s

i've never seen what you are calling cup 2 in 16" (which is really "Cup" as opposed to "C2 Turbo" which is often incorrectly referred to as "Cup 1")

there is a huge weight difference between the 16" original wheel and the 17" MM replica C2Turbo wheel - you'll get better adhesion with the bigger wheel, but you will lose some acceleration - i think determining which one is best for you depends a lot on the track you will be running - if it's tight turns, stick with the 16, or go to a lighter 17 - if it's big sweepers, it won't matter as much
