i folded under my polyurethane one so many times i got rid of it - they are all 3 a bad design - having a leading edge that can snag on things is a bad idea - the only 2 that i have seen that can withstand daily driving are the one i have (like the strosek) and the tech art - the tech art should be even better, as it is a more pliable material, and does not protrude as far<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

i had two AIR Fiberglass units so far. Both cracked fairly easily. The CF is a tad stronger, and so far has not cracked. I even hit a nice big chunk of ice with it. Hopefully, it'll last a while. I had it clearcoated and i presume that may help it some. I did need to put another coat of clear on it after hitting the ice.

I live in NYC, so its constantly scraping the floor here and there....holds u much better then the Fiberglass units did. The AIR splitters (even CF) are the cheapst out there, so i will stay with these. The only other splitter i'd be interested in is the one you have on your ride....for the same reasons you have it.

yeah - the CF will generally take hits of objects and such better for sure - it just really won't handle the snagging the driveway issue any better, not because of the compound, but just because of the design - not even the poly does that

but, if the car isn't lowered too far, this isn't that huge of a problem anyway - i'm REALLY low, so i hit everything - this is such an issue that i added delrin skid pads underneath to take the brunt of the contact

Hi all,

I prefer to have a splitter, anyone has a lead on the Tech Art one?

confirmed - the tech art part has T4 status (obsolete part) - nowhere on the planet at any porsche dealership, parts house, warehouse, etc

i have a call out to my guy at tech art to see if there is anything there that can be done

Wasn't there talk, from a member of this forum, of creating a wing for the 68 that included the apron, making it all one piece and lining up with existing holes?

Stupid question time.....
Why doesn't someone with a perfect fitting splitter wink wink just get a mold made and create a new RSB product out of injection molded plastic?
Seems like there is a potential for quite a few to be sold especially with the cost of a Strosek and shipping.

not as easy as you might think - first would have to strip the paint - then make a negative mold - then make a positive mold - then repaint the piece i already have on the car - that would cost me about 4 grand all in, and take at least 3-4 weeks, all the while my car sits unable to move - somebody would have to pay for all of that work, and with the limited market, the things would have to sell for 5-600 a pop just to get there any time soon

i'm getting tired - too many projects - just want to drive car

besides, strosek already did that - if somebody wanted to organize a group buy, i'm sure the cost would come down

i'm going to leave this one to them

That sounds like a reasonable NO I shall pick up my gauntlet and quietly walk away. I will save it for another day when you least expect it

I have the OEM polyurethane version which is great. It's been scrapped many times and still looks good. The only other splitter I contemplated was the kevalar version from GT Racing.

I have to say - the subtlety of the Strosek could almost tempt me, particularly since my car is not lowered (although I may take a small step in that direction now that I've given up snow/bad winter weather driving).

dave - no worries - you know i pick up those gauntlets all too often - lately it seems that i start running to the shop every time something goes "clank"

Maybe I'll drop into Fred Opert Racing and see what they'd do for us in a group buy of the Strosek. (Can't believe I'm writing this, but...)

Good idea! If you do, please ask about the side molding under the doors as well. I really like the look of the Strosek pieces and think one piece on each side would be more durable than two pieces like Porsche used. Mine have warped from the sun and need a "retainer screw" on the short piece up front to hold it close to the body. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
