where does this piece go?
#1

Putting on new rubber front bumper trim. Threw out the old trim months ago so I don't have the original part to compare to. My question is about the solid aluminum piece that comes with the trim. Obviously it fits in one end of the trim. I'm guessing it goes in the rear of the trim and is used to anchor the trim in place? Anyone? Here's a photo...

it's the gasket that goes between the fender and the bumper cover. can't tell which side though. the metal piece inserts into the end of the gasket, and gets bent into a hook shape at the wheel well

WOW this is just what I am getting ready to do but one gasket came with the metal piece and the other didn't have it?? I haven't removed the old gasket yet so can I use the old metal piece on one of them? Any tips on how to do this would be greatly appreciated

no reason you can't use the old metal piece. they are pretty malleable.
