wheel refinishers ?
#1

I am thinking about getting my wheels refinished. I wanted to know if anyone has a good re finisher preferably close to NJ ? Also what is the average cost to have them done ? two of the wheels have some heavy scratches. Is it worth it to refinish ?

Rico-

There are a bunch of places fairly local to you IIRC. Unfortunately I do not remember names. A little farther away is Wheel Collision in Bath, PA (near the airport in Bethlehem). They are top notch.

From what I have read, figure $100 per wheel on the low end, $200 per on the high depending on extent of refinish/repair required. I was quoted about $500 to get my previous 17s redone by Wheel Collision - that covered only stripping and refinishing. Quote did not include any straightening or removal/remount of tires. It was also 5 years ago...

YMMV

Sports Car Tire
1-800-752-TIRE
They are located in Wilmington,DE
Will have to call them and ask for a price to refinish your wheels

I had bought 2 refinished sets of wheels from them and they are in mint condition

For what it's worth.....
I did my own. Dremelled out the rash, filled and levelled with epoxy resin, sanded with 600 wet and dry and then sprung 150.00 to have them resprayed and clearcoated. They look brand new now. A great winter project when he car is idle.

i knew a couple excellent guys in NYC who refinished wheels. All the dealerships used them and they were mobile (come to you). IIRC they charge about $125 per wheel and when done, they look brand new. I'll see if i could dig up their phone number.

One of my winter projects is to have my cup wheels refinished. No curb rash or gouges, simply tired paint with one of the wheels showing some peeling of the clear coat. My questions are as follows:

Can powder coat accurately match the original finish?

If powder coated, does the refinisher use a base coat/clear coat?

How well does the clear coat hold up?

Are there any recommended refinishers in the Dallas area?

Thanks!
