Wheel Dynamics
#1

I've come across wheel dynamics' site as well as their sales on Ebay for wheels and I was considering buying a wheel/tire set and was wondering if anyone has dealt with them? Just want to determine if they are legit, competent etc and trustworthy...

They have an Italian made set of Carrera III 18" replica wheels for $1000 on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=320210425474

They claim they weigh the same amount as the factory Carrera III wheel (24 and 26lbs front and back).

The replicas that wheel enhancement sell are apparently 25 an 29lbs I am just wondering how wheel dynamics has replica wheels that are a different weight than wheel enhancement replicas.

Also wheel enhancement tells me the factor Carrera III wheels are 22 and 23lbs....so lots of varying info going around here.

The offsets are 57 and 58mm wheel dynamics says I need a spacer in front but wheel enhancement says I don't. I think Anchor who has these wheels (factory) says he did not need a spacer.

What do you guys think....

I was under the impression that to go to 18"s from 17"s for the 968 you would want front 225/40/18 and rear 265/35/18. However all the online plus size tire calculators (tire rack etc) show that the 225/40/18 fronts are correct BUT that the rear should actually be 255/35/18 and not 265.

I have also seen that some have gone with a front size of 235/40/18

Is the ideal scenario one where the actuall overall diameter remains unchanged or changed as little as possible? If so than it seems that the proper size for 18"s are

front 225/40/18

rear 255/35/18

Thoughts?

Here are some nice calculators

I am running those sizes on my 18"s, however, mine are 7.5" up front and 9" in the rear. They seem a bit narrow on my wheels, so I can only imagine how they would work on an 8"/10" set up.

Good point....maybe the 265 might fit the 10" wide wheel better.

Thanks

As pointed out, I have the Carrera III 18" wheels, purchased as a package from Wheel Enhancement with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. The fronts are 8", 57 offset, 235/40ZR18. The rears are 10", 58 offset, 265/35ZR18. No spacers, nice wheel well "fill", no interference.

Hi Anchorman, thanksw for the info.

I have decided to try the replica wheels if only for the huge cost savings, and I will keep my original Cup II's in case I don't like them.

I will go with the 997 Carerra III wheels after debating this move for a long time, and wanting to know exactly which style of wheel I wanted.

Tire size I am going with the 225 40 18 and 265 35 18. I am not sure why wheel dynamics says I need spacers, wheel enhancement and you disprove their recommendation. I will know once they arrrive and I bolt them up. The only thing I could think that could make a spacer required is if they were a different wheel from the replica wheels and OEM wheels that wheel enhancement has.

I am just now deciding which tires to get, I had it narrowed down to Pilot SP2's and Eagle F1 GS D3's but I came across a new tire? Eagle F1 Asymmetric that seems to be rated as high or higher than the GS D3.
