The rear lines make me lean toward an early boxster prototype? The front resembles the 968 and/or 928 a bit. JMHO

Interesting. It looks like a front engine but the scoop in front of the rear well looks like it could be for a mid-engine intake. I wonder if this was an early prototype of a 968 replacement before they decided to go mid engine?

Steven Tebo's garage in Longmont Co. If that 928 prototype had made to production (in coupe and cabriolet versions), I'd bet the trans-axle Porsche's would still be in the model line up today.

 

To me, It seems like the natural progression in body style

It looks different than the pics of the one in the porsche museum, if I remember correctly. The one there had a much more characteristic 928 look. Had they made the 928 in a convertible...I would have one!

I like the 928 prototype so much better than the production 928, it looks more 968ish

 

If they had made that, I would have 8 cylinders

This was apparently a custom work that had a 928 motor. Not made by porsche. Was up for auction (BJ) a few months back. I like it too, more 968-ish, but a little too boxster-ish for my tastes. :0)

The picture Blau shows is a different car. One has door handles the other none.  How many variants are out there?

Good catch Ryan, I thought they had just swapped out the wheels, but the original you posted looks like it has better integrated headlights as well. It also has different mirrors. I couldn't find a picture of that online. I saw where your original picture was posted then found the new picture on Flickr searching for Tebo Car Collection. He must have two?!

The pic Ryan posted looks much more like a 968 in the front, door handles and mirrors. It also looks like it has 993 cup wheels. I would really like the look if it had the rear or the blue 968 roadster... then again...it would pretty much be a 968 with an 8 cylinder engine, huh? :-)

Can't see the rear of the car, but from the side view that last segment looks like an an offspring of a Boxster mating with a Miata

I think it does look like the original Boxter prototype. Not quite as nice, but... They screwed up the original Boxter by using the 911 doors to save money. Typical bean-counter design by committee.
