Water Wetter
#1

During hot weather(and especially when the AC is on) and in stop and go traffic my units temp gauge will run at or get to the upper(hot) side of the whats acceptable field.I can turn the ac off and it will drop down to where it normally runs(just above the cool field).Cooling fans seem to be functioning fine(continue to cool after car is turned off).It never get to the "HOT zone" but I would be more comfortable if it ran cooler.(seems to get hotter with acceleration/thought it might be cooler the faster I drove).Has anyone had experience with or used the product "Water Wetter".If so how was it applied and do I just pour it in the expansion tank.?What temp. range do some other 968's operate at and do I have a cooling problem?Help me out.

we just got through going over this about 3 weeks ago - let me summarize:

In extreme heat/humidity it's not abnormal for our cars to run up to the upper white line. Over that and you need to do things quickly to get the temp down. I spent the hottest week of the year in Dallas, over 106 each day. The temp over the blacktop was around 113 - it would get near the white line but never went over, no matter how hard I drove.

As far was water wetter goes, I don't use the stuff and my gauge never goes above the white line and I live in a very hot/humid area (san antonio texas)

on the track 2 weeks ago, it was over 100 outside, and we were told it was 134 degrees on the blacktop - i know at least 2 ran the watter wetter, had the low temp fan switch, and were running roughly 9:30 on the guage - never got near the white line

I helped out the Mini-Cooper team at VIR in Grand American race in the spring and they used Water Wetter in their cars. I asked the mechanic about it and he said it was worth about 20 - 40 degrees in temp reduction. I added it to my 95 and the needle is now just above "9 o'clock" mark, it used to be half to the top mark. I'm a believer.

Thanks for the feedback! Now,as far as adding it to existing coolant, just dump it in the expansion tank or are there some precautionary steps I should take(i.e. to prevent air in system, ect) when adding?

nope - just dump it in - a half bottle will do it
