Any damage if I start the engine with the instrument cluster removed?
#1

<!--fonto:Arial--><!--/fonto-->I have the instrument cluster out of my car to repair the odometer and coolant temp gauge. I'd like to move the car from the garage to the driveway and back to wash it, and cannot just push the car because the driveway is inclined.<!--fontc-->

<!--fonto:Arial--><!--/fonto-->Besides the obvious – not knowing if I have oil pressure – is there potential for damage to any electrical components if I briefly start the car with the instrument cluster removed?<!--fontc-->

No damage should occur, just make sure the air bag is plugged in.

did not affect anything...just be sure you have no unexpected grounds with the cluster harnesses...

I just turned the key to "on" with the cluster out and that seemed to trigger the airbag light. All the airbag connections were mated, so had to be the circuit to the cluster.
