Video of 968 at Bathurst
#1

A couple of laps at Mt Panorama Bathurst, in NSW, Australia - one of our most famous circuits <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Its about a 4 mile lap and the circuit has an altitude change of 580ft from top to bottom.

Car is a mostly stock 968 CS with some RSBarn bits running on "R" type tyres (ie not slicks) .

With the long uphill and downhill sections, and the slope, the circuit is pretty much a power circuit. And the 968 is over gripped and under powered on that track.

I was being held up going down the mountain so the lines will look clean. But with the 968 not being a powerful car, I always try to keep the corner speed up and everything smooth as possible.

Cool. THat Nissan (sentra or maxima - hard to tell) definately looked a little squirely in the turns. Nice clean racing with the Z.

It is a 968CS, with full trim (incl stereo) with carpets front and back, plus full roll cage. Suspension is M030 with uprated springs, Bilstein non-adjustable shocks, stock torsion bars, stock sway bars, and stock bushes. Brakes are M030 with different pads. Exhaust has stock headers with 2.5" pipe and Dynomax muffler (ask Pete). 968CS Cup II wheels (7.5, 9 x 17") with Dunlop D03 tyres.

Engine is stock except for RS Barn Performance cams, and custom chip. It has the airbox mod with K&N filter. Power is not spectacular, but more than stock - last dyno was 143kW. Car weighs about 2800 lb without me.

I have spent a lot of time setting up the suspension, and it feels good now.

If you have wondered about the performance improvement of the RS Barn performance cams, have a look at the start of lap 2 going up the hill. The other 968 has stock cams.

Bathurst looks like such a cool track. The V8 Supercar race is always spectacular to watch on that track.

And another great aspect is that for most of the year, it's a public road. So anyone can experience the track, albeit at a maximum of 60 km/h.

Are you the white CS in the PCNSW? If so I've seen you at Oran and your car looks very nicely balanced and you drive it well.

What class of racing is that? Are they all road registered vehicles? Looks like fun. What sort of laptimes were you doing?

the Bathurst event was a mixture of time trials (no racing) and races. The cars are sports cars (Australian CAMS group 2B and 2F). Most of the cars are 2B cars - not road registered, with many mods running on slicks. Some of us ran 2F cars - registered with very limited mods, running on road tyres. In fact, I drove the car to Bathurst.
