Dan,

I think I have PM'd you with my email address - but not being 15 anymore (by a long shot) I am only guessing that I did the right thing. More like, blind hope and luck. Let me know if you didn't get it.

I don't remember if I posted this or not - too lazy to search the thread - so I will post it and offer apologies if I did - found on the old interwebs...

Well I found a photo of a nissan cube with a plate that spelled out the formula for glucose - making it a sugar cube, but the thread won't let me post a photo..so whatever....

no reason you should not be able to post a pic, unless the pic is too big or the wrong format

I found no option to do so under more reply options. It doesn't matter now.

ah - that's because this thread is in the wrong section. this entire area is old threads. i still have to move all of them (all 1500 or so) to other spots. once that is done the appropriate permissions will be set

Before they had computers I saw the rolling plate "MERDE" (means s*** in French)

When I was in college, my landlord had "MERDE" for his plate, and had had it for many years. Herb Cane, who was a famous and beloved columnist in the S.F. Chronicle for 50 years, wrote about the plate in his column. A couple of weeks later my landlord recieved a letter from DMV informing him that he had to remove the plate.

Ca DMV's website FAQs indicate personalized plates orders average 10-12 weeks for completion .   I ordered a set of those for my new car about 12 weeks ago, and since I have received no " ready for pick up " notifications,  I decided to call DMV and inquire into the status .  They informed me the website is outdated,  and that orders now take a minimum of four months, and more than often to six months before plates are ready .   And if you want the retro /classic  black and gold ( I don't ) those can take up to as long as twelve months !!!    WTH, are those inmates who make them on strike ?   :glare:  Tongue

It's taking longer because of global warming. They also have to figure out all the new taxes to place on the transaction!

Received the ready notice exactly four months from the date of the order . Now it'll be another four months waiting in line at the DMV to pick them up , :-) :-)

I heard that California has just started issuing digital license plates for those who want to spend ,reportedly, about $ 700 , but I did not listen to the news long enough to get more details than just this : just as with vanity plates you select your personalized letters / numbers sequence which is the regular display on your plate, but you are able to project other messages on that plate for five or ten seconds , ( I don't remember .) after which the display automatically reverts to your " regular " plate . I also dont know how this really works but I think you dictate the message into to your car's Bluetooth and then it's transmitted somehow to the plate ( probably need to install some electronic thingamajiggy which links the BT and communicates with the plate ) , but supposedly you can project whatever message you want (within a certain number of characters ) . Maybe : " back off " , " pay attention to me " " I'm single " " baby on board " " get off your phone " " stop putting on make up " , " I'm special " ( can't you tell just by this licensee plate ?! ) , and oh, so many other things . They suggest not displaying any insulting message when you're being followed by a police car, lol., albeit you only have a few seconds for conveying that .. Also not sure if you can have images projected on your plate ..maybe a finger salute ? ;-) :-)
