Well, it has been 3 months or so since I applied this stuff. The shine is still pretty good, and the water beads up as if I just applied it. Hands down, this is an A+ product. I think I'll put another coat on this weekend just for fun.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->if you do it'll be a smooth swipe over any spot which may have had a heaveier dose of the solution.. the only time
you could face a Klasse type effort ( LOL, I remember using that - what a PITA !! ) is if you really use too much and it leaves a film. Again, not a problem, the result will be just as nice, but more work wiping it off.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Klasse requires no effort either unless you put on too much.
That being said I'm sure this is easier to get off if you do put too much on.

Ahh now what you said makes sense. Couldn't see how you considered Klasse a PITA when all you have to do is rub it in.

Used the Ultima myself and not impressed.
Let me explain. A few weeks ago I clayed the car then buffed out the swirls and rain spots, then used Klasse to bring back the paints luster. Once I got the shine I wanted I added Carnauba wax to protect it. Since then I gave it about 2 more coats of carnauba.
last weekend I washed off the dirt and wiped on one spray per panel of Ultima. Didnt over apply it, but I did get a headache from inhaling it as I was right up on it, in my garage, eyeballing my lines as I applied it. The end result is a good protection. The water really beads up well and a cali duster will remove almost anything and bring back the shine afterward. However I cant attribute the deep shine to the wax. So I see it as a good protector which is what it claims to be. But most hear are impressed with its shine or wet look and I just don't see it.
Curious if our detail king Darryl has any input?

Golly gee, thanks for asking...
I've never tried it, but follow this thread to see other's opinions. The secret to a deep shine is simply good clean paint (or in the case of newer finishes, clear coat). P21S makes a very nice paint cleanser...which most detailing sites refer to as a "pre-wax" treatment. Keep in mind there are drastic differences between cleaners, sealants, and waxes. Based upon what I've read about this Ultima product from the OP link, it is a sealer, which, as Rhudeboye points out, is mainly a protector. You can apply a wax over top of a sealer and many sealers can be multi-layered on top of themselves, but you'll never really get the deep gloss and shine unless the paint is properly prepared to begin with. To do that you must polish and clean as first steps.

their web page simply refers to it as a protector. Which is what a wax is. They never refer to it as a wax but they mention that it has a wax booster and they compare it to other waxes sooo...
"Ultima Paint Guard Plus, containing Polycharger Wax Booster technology, is the longest lasting, clearest and easiest paint protection you can apply to your car. This product takes about ten minutes to
<b>apply to a clean, dry vehicle. </b>Simply wipe on and walk away. No buffing required.
Ordinary waxes and paint sealants easily wash off in a matter of weeks, but Ultima Paint Guard Plus continues protecting, "

These sound like very wise words Darryl. Last time I clay barred my 68 I did an experiment. I left one section of my hood naked, one part was waxed with inexpensive wax A and the third part was waxed with expensive wax B. Looking at the result from all different angle sand in different lights, I could not discern any difference in appearance between the 3 areas. My partner also could not see a difference. My paint was only 2 years old and metallic silver, so perhaps this is not the most stringent test, but I think it backs up Darryl's comments that clean paint is the key. Of course I went ahead and waxed the car to protect the paint, and I used the expensive product because it was much easier to apply and remove. maybe it will last longer too, who knows.
If Flash gets hold of some Ultima for the detail day it would be interesting to apply some to part of a car, like half the hood or one fender, and see if the assembled masses can tell the difference. The key for an objective appraisal would be not to tell anyone which part of the car was treated.

Grab the bottle from Dan.
You cant judge the the results on day one because its a paint protector. The test would be how well the "wax" holds up 1 or 2 months down the road next to a conventional wax.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Well, i live 500 miles away from Bob so it might be tough to do a toss and catch, but I can ceratinly send it to him and it'll get there the next day
Look, the first day or second day after you clay bar / wax / polish ( or whatever..) Even if you use the cheapest Turtle Wax on one half and the most expensive thing you can buy... IMO there is no way to tell which is which... But as little as a week later I believe you will start to notice a change. Three months later, definitely a big change.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
My point exactly.
Looking at your pics I see why you were so impressed. But while were talkin shine, do you attribute both the shine and mirror like finish to the protector or would you say that it was just as good before you wiped it on and the UPGS simply sealed it and added a little bit of a wet look to it?
500 miles! Was that hyperbole? Reading some of the older posts gave me the impression that you guys see each other a lot.
