Turbo S In Excellence
#1

I just got my April issue of Excellence and wanted to congratulate Shawn (Boost Feen) for the article on his car. Very nice looking ride. Your hard work really paid off. Congrats!

I too am living in the past since the last issue of Excellence that I received was Feb.

Incidentally, check out the March issue of Sports & Exotic Car Magazine, page 32 "Five Great Porsches for First-Time Owners". They had a panel of 6 experts give their picks for first-time owners:

-John Chi - Pelican Parts

-Rainer Cooney - Meister Restorations

-Alex Finigan - Paul Russell & Co

-Prescott Kelly - President PCA

-Gordon Maltby - 356 Registry Magazine

-Al Zim - Zim's Autotechnik

They chose:

- 1978-1983 911SC ($15-18K)

- 1984-1989 Carrera 3.2 ($19-23K)

- 1983-1991 944 ($9-15K)

- 1992-1995 968 ($16-19K) <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

- 1996-2004 Boxster ($16-24K)

They show a photo of a red 968 Cabriolet and a yellow Club Sport (good luck with finding one of them in the USA) and it is, overall, a very favorable article for our car and should help with the car's image. I am placing the article in my 968 Library Book (currently about 6 inches thick - filled with articles about the 968 since car was introduced) which I will again bring to this year's 968 Gathering in Hershey for anyone who wants to go thru it. Once I get the new Excellence article, I will add that too.

I love Hemmings S&EC. Signed up for a 2 year subscription. My first letter to a magazine ever got into their reader's replies section last year. It was about my 968 and Corrado on Collector Car Insurance. Great magazine. Great reading.

Funny, my first two are on the list. '83 944 and '92 968. Picked up the 944 for $3000 - well below their $9-15K range - and got my 968 for $9500 - right at the bottom. It definitely pays to shop around and not buy on impulse... ESPECIALLY when it comes to cars.

The April issue of Exce911ence is on the news stands here in Canada. Your subscription provider sounds like they are behind the times.

There is no doubting that this is a special issue. Not only do they have a NON-911 article, it is a 968 at that (an FEWP - FRONT ENGINE WATER PUMPER) ... and it is on the FRONT COVER. There is bound to be an uprising from the Porschephile Purists over this !!!

FYI Excellence is not published every month of the year. March is one of the months they do not publish. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

For anyone interested, it appears that the car is just about to be sold. Since he will not post here anymore as far as I know, I figured I'd pass along the info...

I signed up or Excellence in the beginning of Feb so that I could get the April issue and she told me it was already gone so I would not receive it in the mail . I have checked every newstand I could find in Vancouver and I was afraid it was a subscription only magazine. I'll keep looking now that you say you have seen it on magazine stands

I have an extra copy of the April Excellence. I picked it up on the way home ... my wife also bought me one while grocery shopping as a 'treat' ..... I wonder what she wants from me this weekend ????

If anyone wants it, just let me know and I will send it out in the mail. Only one copy so first reply gets it.
