turbo 3rd brake light
#1

I have a 968 Coupe and for the looks I’m placing a Turbo spoiler. I also bought a 3rd brake light from Porshe (951 631 060 00 – additional stop lamp, 951 631 121 00 – bracket). As you know, the 3rd brake light is an US option but my Turbo spoiler is a ROW so there is no cut-away in the lower rear/lip spoiler (944 512 103 01)

Does anybody know the sizes and placing (maybe pictures) of the cut-away in the lower rear spoiler? I’ve added some (“borrowed”) pictures to show what I mean. Does anybody know how exactly the 3rd brakelight is fastened to the lower rear spoiler?

When I purshased ( from Germany ) a third brake-light kit I asked Dave Greimann

on this Forum for his expert help. He supplied valuable pictures of the lower lip-spoiler cut-out and wiring detail. I was able to fit this mod myself so no special

tools or know-how is required.

However there are quite a few nuts etc to undo and a correct sequence for removal of side channells .hatch spoiler and lower lip-spoiler. Also care is required

in removing threaded screws which can become coroded and turn around without

undoing.

I would advise ordering ALL screws, nuts & bolts ,washers etc to replace at the time of fitting. Also a special screwdriver bit is required to remove the lug-nuts

from the side channells ( I made one myself using a file to cut a groove in the bit )

If the bolt-posts come unglued from the inside face of the side channells then

Araldite or similar will be needed.

Ther is quite a lot of posts on the subject of side channells and hatch spoiler removal ( but not on the third brake-light as this is US spec only ) on the UK Forum

Best of luck

Shaun,

Do you still have those pictures?

I've allready removed the panels (which at the end came off nicely).

First thing to do now is make a cut in the lower lip spoiler, right?

Wrong......You cannot cut the existing lower lip-spoiler.....You will have to order a new US spec lip-spoiler Part No. 944 512 103 03C as shown on PET illustration

803-05 .

For the pictures please see my earlier post and contact Dave Greimann......
