Guys....I would like to get your input on this problem i'm haveing.
I have a 1995 968 tiptronic with 111k miles.
I have either a rear most ttube bearing failing or its the converter bearings.
If i put the car up on a lift and running in park you can trace the whine with a screwdriver to ear to the loudest point which appears to be at the end of the TTUbe. If i put the scredriver at the bellhousing of the tip the noise doesn't transmit as much. I did have an auto 928 some years back and remember a simaler problem. I had my local Porsche mechanic diagnose a TTube and when he went to put in the new one it still had the problem. They took it all apart again just to find it was a bad converter bearing.
Anyone have experience with this?
Anyone had to do new converter or bearings installed? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
