WOW! Testla's new roadster

Got this mini-blog from a friend about E-cars , in response to all those who predict its the inevitable future of all vehicles :

If all cars were electric, and were caught up in a three hour traffic jam ; all batteries die. Then what ? How do you charge the hundreds of stuck cars on a blocked highway to get them going again ? And even there was a way, how long would that take ? It can easily turn that three hour traffic jam into a nightmare gridlock of for several days. To make things worse, in the dead cold if winter e-cars with dead batteries have no heat. Ever spent a night in a car without heat in winter ?

And then this : what about most of the worlds metropolitan areas where block buildings have thousands upon thousands of apartments .. with a large number of residents who own cars. How many charging stations are there going to be for all those e-cars , and where will the charge stations all be located ?

- Congratulations ! Your are number 425, in line for electrical plug number 6 in your buildings lot . Your patience is sincerely appreciated

That’s a good one. Have never seen that type of sign. I don’t live near the Lancaster area which is where many of the Amish lives.

If anyone asks if we miss all the newer cars “technology “ when driving our 968s,  you can show them this video :

A Tesla , the epitome of technology, full of self-driving systems and drivers assistance safety features

Driving is actually healthy for you.

I like to drive. I enjoy the feeling of being "connected" to the process, I like my ego to unexpectedly take over instead of being remote from what's going on. I know driving is a thinking, anticipating process. When I don't want to drive I take a taxi, used to have a chauffeur, and now I guess will get a self drive .... all equally uninteresting. Please save me from being saved ....

Yeah baby, death to electric vehicles !    Here’s some “ reverse world “ news :

Yes, I know this is just temporary until the infrastructure gets to the point where charging stations are as ubiquitous as Starbucks, and the time it takes to charge your pathetic golf cart disguised as a car is a matter of minutes , but until then I am enjoying this to its fullest ..

Yes there's a lot of hype, but that's sales for you .... E-cars at present are a combination of smoke, mirrors, and psychological blackmail. I shall doubtless embrace the finished article, but for now I agree with you DS, batteries and infrastructure are still really at the "proof of concept" stage.

On the other hand my new car arrived last night, other end of this scale, so later I'll give it a clean and post on the "my other car" thread.

the new roadster looks fantastic - aesthetically and in terms of spec... recently became a bigger fan of the Model S and it's something I would strongly consider if I didn't have multiple cars in a place where I should have 0.. maybe 1
