Tiptronic Harness Disconnect at Inst Panel??
#1

Instrument panel lights are burned out in my 968 instrument panel.

I've taken these panels out before in 944's many times, but with the 968 Cab, the tiptronic wiring harness does not seem to have a disconnect located on the back of the panel and I don't want to pull on the harness to get a look. Can anyone advise where that plug is located?? On the panel, downstream on the harness? Thanks!

I took out the panel earlier this year to replace the broken odometer gear and was able to disconnect all the harnesses on the panel. We have a 95 Cab with Tip.

Ah good - where is the harness disconnect? The pigtail is pretty short on my car and I could not see it or feel it - is it on the back of the panel like the other 3 connectors? Or downstream of the panel on the harness? Sounds like you mean that it is on the back of the panel with the other 3.

Thanks!

Found it! There are 2 flat connectors about 12" down from the instrument panel. There was a cable tie that was holding the harness that took up any slack, and that was the reason I could not find it last time. Anyway, got the panel out (easy to do) and installed a set of LED lights to brighten the display, and while I was at it, cleaned and checked all the emergency bulbs - 4 were burned out and I was able to replace these with GE #73 pinlight bulbs using the original holder and improvising the contacts.
