Tinted tail lights
#1

I've been thinking about this, and I'm wondering if anyone tried it and what your results were.

I have a feeling that my tail lights could blend in very nicely on my amethyst car if I tinted them, but I'm far from certain. It could also look very cheap.

I'm not sure if the lens is glued to the light assembly, cause if it is, it might be too difficult. It also isn't legal, at least not here, but I think it could go unnoticed.

What do you think?

If the legality is not an issue for you, go for it. For me, the best I could say is "interesting". I think our taillights are already sufficiently mysterious that I'm not looking for anything more.

I've also wondered about tinted lenses. Red 968s with red lenses look really nice IMO so I figure blue lenses good look great on our Cobalt blue car. I think the potential downside is that it could look very 'bling'/cheap/boy racer and I'm none of those <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I am envious of you, Jono, cause if I could have picked any color when I bought my car, it would have been cobalt.

That said, I think the bright red lenses look great on your bright blue 968, and I would not tint them if I were you, especially not blue. Blue makes me think VW Polo.

This is all, of course, totally a matter of personal opinion.

I agree with you that red lenses look really nice on a guards red 968. The thing with amethyst is that it is still red (-ish), but much darker, and I sometimes think my tail lights are too bright to match.
