The real work begins
#1

Ok, a little background, was having a great weekend at the PCA Club Race at Road America weekend weather was sos, but qualified 7th out of 41. But it all went wrong on the Sunday warm up. I screwed up track was still too cold and lost it in corner 1, hit the inside tire wall at about 75mph and pretty much done in the car the only panels not bent was the passenger door and right rear.

So the rebuild began when I was able to find a really nice identical black on black 968 roller. The plan is to swap the engine, trans, suspension, racing parts, etc over to the new car.

First job to stripped the new car out for the cage, man do I hate that glue.

Just got the car back home from the welder end of last week so I get to start putting it back together.

Here are a few pictures of the progress.

Don't skimp on safety. All the safety equipment worked I was fine, I actually feel safer in a race car than a street car on the street :-).

As for weight it all depends on what series you plan on racing with, with PCA E class the car has to weigh a ton 3236 lbs with the driver, I will add between 120 to 180 lbs of lead when I'm done. PCA E class is the largest class they have at Road America there was 25-26 E class cars. If you look at NASA GTS its a power to weight ratio so you want to balance your car into a given class, figured if I take a lead brick out would fit well into the GTS2 class there.

You probably wont be needing those fine looking blk seats, too much weight, so if you were to part with them.......
