Maybe it was just the quality of the sound in the video, but it sure seemed like he was lifting an awful lot. Also, I didn't hear a whole lot of tire squealing. So, it seems that there is potential for a lot more speed with this car. And I have to agree with what a lot of road tests have said - the sound this car makes is anything but pretty. But the torque has to be unbelievable.

I wonder what the Corvette ZR1 will eventualy be able to do around the 'ring. Now there is a spectacular machine...

He hit the rev limiter so much, he must have been lifting to keep off the limiter. He also missed a couple of 2nd to 3rd shifts a couple of times and went into 5th....not like I ever do that on the track. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The only time I could find posted for the Z06 is 7 minutes 26.4 seconds. But I did not really seacrh too much.

That sounds about right. I've seen several tests conducted at various tracks in which the Viper was slightly faster than the Z06. The ZR1 should be able to shave a few seconds off the Z06's time, and probably beat the Viper, I would think. We'll have to wait and see...

Here's a link with some Nurburgring times: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordschleif..._lap_times

Its interesting that American manufacturers now hold the two fastest slots (for a true production car) aroung the 'Ring. And GM has the record for the fastest 4-door.

Now there's a lot of controversy about 'Ring times with claims of forgery, ringers, etc. I don't know if they're true. But one set of consistent 'Ring times are the ones generated by the German Magazine 'Sport Auto'. They conduct something called the Supertest. The magazine's editor (Horst von Saurma) is the driver and he's very good. His times are at http://www.sportauto-online.de/aktuell_U_s...02725_14653.hbs
