given that the rebuild will likely really come to well over $10k, i would think carefully. at this point, you don't even know the condition of the block. it may need boring and pistons. for a track car, you are at least looking at rods, bearing coating, cylinder matching, balancing, and a good head job with porting and chamber matching. parts will be at least $3k, and could easily be $6k (ask me how i know). that doesn't even touch what else may be found in there or want attention elsewhere in the car.



let your budget point you in the right direction. assume that you are going to drop $10k on the engine. if you have that, plus your entry fees and such for your events, plus another $6k for the used motor, great. if not, then blow off this season.



either way, i think you need to wait to decide until you know what you are getting yourself into on the blown motor.

Just kidding... Sorry to hear your troubles RAP... This truly SUCKS! I don't want to stir the pot too much, but my NA at 234/225 (Dynojet) has been absolutely bullet proof (knock, knock, knock) for soooo long.... That is my vote for reasonable power an reliability at the lowest price point. Another option would be 2.5 Turbo.... I think Eric has one of the mot successful story-lines on this, somewhat of a mistress type relationship with it though I believe. loves it, then hates it, and the back to love... But boy is that thing fast!

Pablo you're just toooo sensitive. The world doesn't revolve around you. Well not all of the world! Lol I'm waiting for Max to swap them in and out. Rebuilt brake calipers, transmission and now engine on successive events has indeed been wearying. Yes I know, the world doesn't revolve around me either. Should! Lol. Just annoying to lose so much track time but that is life and part of this deal. The car had been great up until that point so no real complaints. As I've said before, buying a trailer this year sure was a good and timely idea and thanks again for your thoughts and advice regarding that. I will!

After what seems like months, endless repairs- brake caliper rebuild, new transmission, new engine- and copious amounts of cash, I am picking up my red car on Saturday. I'm afeard I've become somewhat of a dweeb because I've been pining for my car. Thinking of swapping the Hoosiers with r1r's just to check out the new engine. Can you imagine driving a 968 without an sc that formerly sported one?

Went to Pocono this weekend to watch a Riesentoter DE event. Saw some buds including Pablo. Man it was painful watching those cars run especially since I had been signed up to attend! Forget slippery slope, I'm reminded of the guy that set the altitude high dive. Lol
