Goodbye and Good Luck
#1

It is with a heavy heart that I post my last post - most likely in the wrong place and undoubtedly vomit in the eyes of some. I have tried to remove my membership and details to the best of my ability. If this is not a Forum or a Community the I don't see why I would need to be a member.

As this is a site owned by one person, not for all as per the information provided when I joined, I feel deceived and very disappointed. My trust has been violated and I believe over time the credibility of the site will also diminish. I choose not to be part of that deception. Credibility is hard won and easily lost. Our true colours are not on show when things are easy, but the true test is when under pressure. As such, my moral compass will not allow me to idly sit by and be part of the deception. I choose to be more authentic and credible than to simply accept the status quo.

I am sorry that it has come to this. I have had some great times vomiting all over the place with some great people. I don't hold a library card and if the Forum is just a library, I don't need to join this one either.

I wish everyone all the best for the future.

you will be missed. you have been an excellent contributor. it is sad to see this level of reaction to something so simple and inconsequential. but, we all have to march to the beat of our own drummer.

best of luck.

Sorry you feel that way, hot968. I for one will miss craigawoodman. I appreciated his experience and willingness to provide insight, and he had no problem sharing his foibles as much as his triumphs, which is a sign of self-confidence. The communal aspect of the forum, if there is to be one, is now less than it was. For those on the forum who always seek assistance, there is now one less person to respond.

i don't agree that there is any loss of communal aspect. there will be more orderly conducting of the threads. that's all. none of this was personal or had anything to do with anything of consequence. it was merely a case of telling people to stay on topic. that is what this site is all about, and why it is better than the others. it is only useful if it is searchable to the new user. otherwise, the ramp up time is too burdensome. some people have ruined a number of threads with their meandering blather. that stops now.

as for craig, i will personally miss his contributions. i understand his choice, and he is within his rights to make it. i personally feel it is shortsighted and ill-conceived, but it is his choice. we all react differently to things. i don't find curtailment of extraneous conversation to be an issue. he does. fine.

the policy of this site is, always has been, and will always be, one of welcoming free speech and opinion, but requiring that we stay on topic.

i wil get in and adjust the language of the forum rules to further incorporate what we always felt to be self evident, and needed no further detail. obviously we over-estimated the ability of some people to understand that sometimes they need to restrain themselves from expressing everything that come to mind at the moment.
