Saints and Heaven Forbid

Gents I done had me an epiphany. It done cum outta da blue and has rocked me to the bedrock of the foundation of my soul. I think I miss Obama. Now before all of you west coast intellectual elites think a irredeemable east coast poorly educated doofus like me could have an epiphany much less know what the word means or how to use it, I gots me proof.

Now now, I knows I lives on a dirt road up in mountains in the woods and I ain't got no fancy million dollar house like y'all but dat don't mean I can't think or have a thought at least once a week. My parents, both eastern educated like me and at an obvious disadvantage, done taught me to give credit where credit is due.

It's January in NE Pa. Winters are cold and snowy this time of year. Yea I still gots me some snow in the yard and ice on the dirt road but today I opened my garage doors , turned off the heat and washed my 968 and my truck. It's a balmy 52 degrees. Heavens forbid will wonders never cease!

So why do I miss obama. I miss him because he done be in charge for the last eight years and I think, no I believe he should get 100% credit for this wondrous day which is a result of global warming. Eight years of tireless effort and proof positive results. Forget about peace in the Middle East. I washed my vehicles in January and for that I will be forever greatful.

I dona know why he be worried about his legacy, shoot he done raised the temperatures in the winter. He be saving us poo folk on our heating bills. His legacy done be secure. I hope he stays in CA. for awhile so y'all can got some more rain.

Now that boys is how to make a point without name calling, hatred and vitriol!

Eloquently written , that east coast Harvard ejucatin' sure served you well, but you may want to tone it down a bit, it's starting to sound a bit elitist and that scares and confuses us simple surfer dudes on the opposing sunny coast ..

at least there is an admission of global warming being real.  that's a start.  now, if we could just get the rest of the country to look at the data, and see that it is undeniable, then maybe we could see the eventuality, and maybe we could do something about it.  of course this means putting the greater good in front of their own needs and desires, doing without some things, and paying more taxes.  but then, that's something the rest of the world has already figured out and is doing.  unlike here, they are not blocked by the oil lobby at every turn.  they don't have their environmental measures cut in less than half by the industries that would suffer from them.  they don't have the almighty dollar put first.  they have a sense of responsibility to the future.

but, it will likely never happen, because the unites states sucks!

In 1995 after a heavy snowstorm in January we had an unseasonably increase in temps coupled with heavy rains. The Susquehanna river came very close to flooding. So way back then the temp was up in January. Perhaps it is democratic presidents that have raised the temps?

Surfer dudes. Can you still get up on a board? Lol

anybody can cite individual peaks and valleys.  the key is to look at the overall change.  it coincides exactly with man's increasing activity, and at a rate that has never happened before.  the severity of extremes on both ends of temp and weather is increasing.  the CO2 levels are the root cause.  this really isn't up for debate with any critical thinker.  the only issue remaining is whether or not we do anything about it, or instead just worry about our wallet.

the thing i find the most ironic, is that the christians are the ones fighting hardest against doing the "christian thing" when it comes to providing health care and education for all, and saving the planet for the future generations.

Selling Mother Earth out for quarterly profits has always taken priority over any preservationist measures . Even if the U.S. does something to attempt slowing down the environment's degradation to which we contribute, regretfully , it'll amount to little more than a very small fraction of the massive destruction caused by the entirely apathetic and gross polluters like China, Russia, and countless other nations which will never listen to reason. Their people are dropping like flies from pulmonary diseases and cancers caused by all the toxicity around them and they still don't give a crap, why would they care about anyone else or future generations ?

while it is true that china outputs about twice as much CO2 as the US, it is only because of their population, which is 4 times ours.  still, we output more than twice what they do per capita.  by all accounts they are better than we are.  that does not say that they don't need to do the same things we need to do to clean up the environment.  it is not appropriate to say "they're behaving badly" to excuse us behaving badly.  when it comes to bad behavior, no parent would say "since your sister behaved badly, it's ok for you to do the same".

we are supposed to be the leaders of the world.  time to start leading.  you want to make america great again? make it great at saving the planet.  nothing else much matters.

CO2 is just one of a multitude of hazards endangering the environment ; deforestation , dumping millions of tons of garbage and chemicals into landfills and rivers and into the ocean, fracking and similar drilling, so on and so forth . Unlike the U.S. which might produce more CO2 on a per capita basis, countries like China and Russia , Thailand, India , and even Brazil which on one hand made unprecedented efforts to to eliminate dependency on fossil fuels with the other hand is slowly but surely destroying their own rain forests which are vital to the entire planet , cause exponentially more damage on ALL those platforms than the U.S. ever could . Not that it's an excuse for us to do nothing , what I'm saying, in a perhaps a cynical, fatalist , defeatist attitude , is that I don't think anything we might do will make a bit of difference on a global scale. But it will have a significant localized impact, and that would be a welcomed change for sure . Don't hold your breath for anything of the sort in the next four years though... even if he gets impeached , Pence is no friend of the environment either ..

agreed, but it is the single biggest problem we face.  pointing out other problems only obfuscates the major issue.  i'm not suggesting that we ignore the other issues, but rather that we cannot allow them to overshadow the biggest one.  "picking the low lying fruit" is not the answer.  we have been doing that for far too long, and now we are facing irreparable damage.

again, many countries have figured this out, and have taken real steps to cure it.  they hit the consumer where it hurts the most - their wallet.  they have made it extremely expensive to buy and have the things that create the problem - cars.  we need to follow suit.  we need to make our cars clean.  we can no longer continue to build and drive the big SUV gas guzzlers and pickup trucks.  all cars need to be zero or near zero output.  we need to fund alternative energy research.  we need to stop burning coal altogether.  we need to fund public transportation.  there are millions of jobs to be had in these areas, and all it would take is a jump start from the government.  some would be funding.  most would be tax incentives to companies that get into this.  if we could get out of our own way, we could be completely off of coal and oil in 10 years.
