do not wrap the collector - bad things will happen

porsche actually slowed things down going into the resonator - they did this twice with 2 different devices

only after that did they then speed things up by going into 2 smaller tubes, but i'm not sure it was by design and not merely a byproduct - i have a couple of theories as to why they went to 2 tubes:

1. they either went a bit too far (not likely) or they needed to accumulate the volume in the resonator before re-tuning it to the exit tubes

2. there just isn't enough room in there to have a large diameter tube and provide the clearances necessary for all conditions

be very careful about what chip you run - there are a number of things that lean out the mixture, and most chips do not account for this, and some (including some popular ones) can actually be dangerous to run

You are putting too many kinks into my plans. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]

instead of answers I'm coming up with more questions. How much tuning did Porsche do to reduce sound dB, rather then scavenging? (i don't expect you to know all this obviously) but the question does arise.

Should i run a Adj. Fuel Reg. along side with the chip? Would tuning with it reduce the danger?

I don't think I'm the only one who has pondered about getting about 30-35 more BHP with relatively simple an somewhat inexpensive tuning?

given that germany has the strictest standards regarding noise, i would imagine they did quite a lot about that

adding an afpr can help with the lean mixture, but you will need to tune with an a/f meter to know where to set it, and it would help to do it on a dyno - having done that very thing, i can tell you that 2lbs too much can mean a pretty serious dip in power - i also found that how much i needed depended on the other things done (i.e. different cat-backs)

while it is possible to get 30-35hp out of bolt ons, it's not about the horsepower numbers on the street - it's about mid range torque - peak hp numbers are for bragging rights only, and can really only be made use of on the track

the first thing to do is define what the car will be used for - then you can decide what things to do to it to get what you want - there is always a bit of give and take though, so be prepared for that

a lot of work has been done in this area - i'd read up a bit here before jumping in - you may find the answers you are looking for

You are definately right about the thing you said about braging rights vs. the best power curve. and i personally think that the best power curve is what i'm looking for. Porsche has never been about drag racing.
