Quote:Surreal. It has occurred to me as things get worse and financial distress and hunger start to impact families across the socioeconomic divide that we Porsche owners should pay attention. People compare themselves to others as a matter of routine. Keeping up with the jones. Porsche owners could be considered wealthy or rich by others in different situations. This could bring undue focus, jealousy or even anger. No one knows what goes on in homes behind closed doors. Yet a picture of someone out innocently driving their Porsche might paint an unintended picture.
My local Cars & Coffee group, with the best of intentions, wanted to hold a fun run to go by children's houses to brighten up their birthdays, etc. After about 2 days of planning someone brought up how bad the optics of this drive would be; families struggling to pay bills, worried about livelihood, etc. To put a point on it, one guy was pulled over in his Lambo and the cop berated him for 15 minutes, asked him "if he was living under a rock for the last 30 days?"... the drive was cancelled.
Melva and I are safely tucked away at our house in the Mountains, we are offering our home as a refuge for a couple of friends that are living in NYC in a 600 sq/ft studio with no outdoor space.
In times like these, it is much better to look like a "have not".

We've been keeping a very low profile. Just going out to walk the dog and to the market and that is it. Oregon's rate of infection this far has been quite low relative to Washington and California, nevertheless we are staying home and taking advantage of the senior citizens only shopping time block at the market.
We are nearly out of hand sanitizer, so I purchased some Everclear, diluted it back to 65% and use that as a spray disinfectant. You can use it on your hands, but you need to rub in some hand cream afterwards to avoid having dry skin. For our European friends, Everclear is 190 proof (80% alcohol) grain alcohol. I use it for sanitation in a winery. Kills everything.

USA commentators over here are speculating that the USA may loose 250,000-500,000 in this madness, I hope Trump don't go and Bomb Wuhan,
Hang on in there Guys, I'm on my 3rd week of hiding indoors, while my wife has to work as she is a carer.
Managed to get started on the cruise install today,
missing one bracket for the actuator, $3 brand new, and a E-clip for the throttle pedal thingy,
new cable on order for the throttle $10, and I need a RHD Micro switch for the clutch pedal, which I can find no pictures of how its fitted,
there are no dealerships open here at the moment and no parts getting in from Germany

Yes RHD has a lever type micro switch from Hartmann, not the same as your plunger type

The little lever that goes at the top of the throttle pedal on my RHD, the pin the cable pushes on to is the other side to the LHD
That little lever with the roller is £70
