convertible top stopped working
#1

About a week ago my top stopped working. It stopped half way up and I had to go to manual mode. I checked all fuses and the relay under the hood, also pulled out and reintalled the two relays in the trunk. I can hear the relays in the trunk working but there is no current going to the motors, also the limiter micro switches seem to be operating. Any ideas would be appreciated

thanks

John

check for voltage before and after the relays, if you have it before the relay and not after then it's bad. If you dont have before the relay and your fuses are indeed good then you will have to trace the wires for a break.

last but not least----check grounds!

As an aside - many cab owners have gone to manual operation, some because they had a problem and some to avoid a future problem. I, like manyothers, have found the manual mode to be favorable and would not consider returning to the motorized method. You might consider that.

Has anyone here actually replaced either of those relays?

Just fixed the electric top mechanism in my 951 cab.

While in the shop due to the engine running erratically and shutting down at random, which turned out to be a faulty DME control unit, apparently the shop pulled relays G19 and G21 and reversed them by mistake, since they're both identical except for the reference numbers

Relay G19 is for the central locking and alarm systems, and has a 928 reference. Relay G21 is strictly for the electric top mechanism and has a 941 reference.

Those with inoperative CLM or electric top mechanisms in their cars may want to check both of these relays.

My car is finally fixed!
