STROSEK DESIGN
#1

Just received shipment of my new one piece STROSEK DESIGN side skirts for my 968. Originals are pulling away a little.
Took them to my body shop, and they commented on the high degree of quality
in the fiberglass workmanship.
Waiting to hear when they can fit me in for the fitting, trimming if required, painting and
installation.
Dealing with customs at Vancouver airport was easier than I imagined.
Taxes and duties totaled $130.00
Will take pictures when they are on.
Next is the clutch!

Phil, that is great. I love the look of those rockers. I was wondering how they would fit up. Did you look at them before taking to the body shop? I was wondering if they used clips like the factory items or maybe adhesive fot the install. See if you can find out from your shop. I may still pull the trigger on those if I can install myself.

They are not blocked, open right through, looks like it would be easy to connect a ventilation hose to cool the rear brakes.
I'm not headed in that direction.
As per installation, here's what they say.
The STROSEK side skirts will be fitted to the
original fixing points
 Paint STROSEK side skirts
 Demount original side skirts
 STROSEK side skirts will be fixed to the upper parts
with 2 screws
Glue on side skirts additionally with PU-glue
 STROSEK side skirts will be fixed to the wheel arches
with 1 screw

Like I said, I have the body shop doing this.

I am going to guess that they are not functional.

What would you use them for to begin with... rear brake cooling??

Another thing I noticed while looking at the Strosek photos I have is that the rubber seal/gasket found between the body and the OEM skirts is not present. So I am thinking the Strosek skirts either come with adhesive/tape or require it to keep the upper edge of the skirt "connected" to the body.

Guess we'll know soon enough!

EDIT: 1 minute too late!!!

yes - rear brake cooling - now that i have balanced the car out in braking, i get more heat to the rear - i am planning to add ducts to all four corners in an ongoing effort to improve braking without significantly increasing weight

You're only a ferry ride away so I hope I get to see them in person soon at a PCA function. I've seen the pictures but it's not the same as being there.

I am pretty sure Strosek did not form the little grooves for the stock attaching pin clips, but rather uses lower mounting screws, wheel arch screws, and sticky tape....

I get her back from the body shop tomorrow with the side skirts on.
Can't wait, and before you ask I'll try and get pictures up on the weekend.
Body shop said one side no problem, direct fit, other side had some
sanding for body panel defects, hardly noticeable. But I guess
17 year old body panels have character!

He states that it is glued and screwed....not taped.

Can't wait to see the finished car!

Got the car. Looks fantastic. They used none of the supplied hardware from STROSEK
and it is permanently attached without screws, clips or tape.
It really looks good. Promise to get pics up ASAP.
Paint and installation was $750, and they spent a lot of time getting a perfect fit.

Wow, they look really great! I was expecting them to be a bit more in your face, but they are in fact quite subtle. It compliments the car very well.
