Sticky clutch pedal
#1

Hi. First post for a while. Hope your all well…

~Brakes work fine.

~My clutch pedal is sticking occasionally. When it does, I have to put my toes under the pedal and it flings back up.

I had a sniff in the footwell, all looks good. I cleaned and lubed the lever nevertheless.

There are no leaks around the clutch slave however when I looked at the booster I notice that some fluid is weeping from between the brake booster and slave.

Does this mean I have to replace booster, brake slave and clutch slave? Or, could I get away with seals and new clutch slave? I ask as I’m keen to order the right parts - takes a while to get here.

A new brake slave is $1k US. at that price I’m seriously thinking of getting the existing one rebuilt. What does everyone think?

tks

From experience its the clutch master, which is fed from the brake master on a LHD car, the brake fluid is often changed but never the clutch, the water logged fluid then rots the seals in the slave and master for the clutch

A new slave for the clutch from Porsche is very expensive, but a seal kit is available but only of use if there is not to much corrosion in the bore of the cylinder, the master is available from rock auto for not crazy money, I would replace both

And the hose from the brake master to clutch master

Same goes for RHD cars

You might even look at the clutch shaft and needle bearings. Usually causes sticky pedal if they're seized.

Thats a much bigger job, but it happens to low mile cars that just sit around, these cars need to be used

Not sure what you meant by a "brake slave" (caliper?) But, I recently bought a brake master cylinder for $216.99...please see below. Clutch master cylinders are $90 ($89 for an FTE) or less at Rock Auto. A clutch slave cost $350 on Pelican...highway robbery. But, if it's rebuildable you can get a repair kit on Ebay for just $17.56.

Best wishes with the fix!

That's actually a great price. Do you remember and can you please share the vendor?

I'm continuing to stockpile (hoard) spare parts. I expect that soon you won't be able to get a clutch slave cylinder for any price...
