Where do I fins a 930 style steering wheel?
#21

badberry - that's very odd - i've never had issues with them at all, and not heard of anyone else having them either - i just called and said, "send me this" and they did - did you have some sort of conversation that might have made them nervous?

i can confirm the part numbers - my invoice says the same thing

rpm - there is an option out there for you - i am hoping there are some pictures - there is an airbag 3 spoke wheel that looked danged good - i'll find out where it came from

I have heard of people installing Boxster 3 spoke airbag wheels in 951s... but the cost is probably much more than going to a 930S wheel.

I disliked the OEM wheel, primarily because of the (IMHO, dumb) two-button horn. Since I wanted to preserve the airbag, I replaced the steering wheel with a 993 wheel. I'm very pleased with the near-stock look. This summer, when I replaced the dashboard, I sent the wheel to Alan Gun to have the rim upgraded - they did a great job. They were a little slower than predicted, but that didn't cause me any problems because I was also a little slower than predicted. The photo is of the stock 993 wheel in my 968.
Great info and pictures, can't wait to get mine! Silvy, what are the three guages that are mounted where the cubby is? I really like the wood grain also...future project maybe. I wonder if they make a carbon fiber dash kit?
I HAVE A CLOCK, VACUUM AND OIL PRESSURE. YES THEY DO MAKE CARBON FIBER.

THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENTS.
My experience with AJ-USA is very different than everyone on this board. I called them like Flash recommended and the Guy on the phone refuses to sell me the steering wheel because it will be used on an air bag car! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> He claims that everyone with this wheel on their car has somehow rigged it to fit. So my options are to use silvy's part # AJR 347 089 00 for the hub adaptor, which is described as a "universal hub adaptor" but the AJR 348 082 will not come up. I think the steering wheel is the same for all applications anyway, I would just throw away the hub that comes with it right?

Does anyone have a contact person that can help me out? I am just nervous to order without an AJR rep understanding what I am trying to do.
MY SALES INVOICE HAS "SRN" AS THE SALESMAN.

THE DESCRIPTION FOR THE ADAPTER HUB SAYS" ADAPTER, HUB, 944,924,W/O AIRBAG.

THE WHEEL DOES NOT COME WITH A HUB ADAPTER.

Steering wheel on the way, yea! Thanks for all of your help, the most recent guy at AJ-USA was cool (no legal paranoia). Does the old steering wheel have any value with the air bag?

if it's REALLY clean, and are willing to wait, you can get a buck or buck and a half for it if it's black - more if it's another color

Does the 930 wheel stick out farther than the stock wheel (distance from dash to driver)? I personally think the stock wheel is too close to the dash and would prefer it to be closer to the driver. Also, is there a way to create an adapter to extend the stock wheel out?

kramermic,

The 930 wheel measures approx. 5.5" from the face of the dress plate ( the one with the 4 screws holding it onto the steering column) to the ourside dim. of the steering wheel.

If you measure your stock wheel you can tell if the 930 will be closer or farther away, either way,IMHO I prefer the 930 wheel for grip, horn location and asthetic reasons.
