Talking with friends while playing ball about who has the best driving record. My buddy who has gotten 3 tickets tells me that he has zero points on his license. We asked did he simply beat the points in court. No, he went on to tell us that all where out of state and when that happens there are no points.
Is that true?

This is true in Pennsylvania.
Although the states have reciprocity on payment of fines, only tickets in PA are assessed points.
The last resort!!!!!
Some insurance companies do not routinely check driving records on existing clients because of the cost of doing so--in particular Allstate and AIG.
Tom
Ahhh, thanx for the tip.
So this is kinda a mystery . Experiences vary and that could be do to the Insurance companies just not checking. However if you call you run the risk of them uncovering something that was to your advantage being left alone. A can of worms I cant afford to open.
So what we need is someone w/ a perfect driving record to call both insurance and DMV to get the results.
Never mind, I no longer care.

Hey, Cosimo. My cars back w/ Chris for this beautiful weekend.
Now if what your saying is true, then thats great news for me. i have only received one speeding ticket in my life and that was last Dec going through NC. Got caught in a speed trap and paid a $70 fine.
Yes I actually went through 20 years of driving w/o getting a speeding ticket.
You're in good company 1987 was my last speeding ticket - in June IIRC, so 20 years to the month !
( was driving the 944 back then ) .
Best part is when you go to court and the judge ask about your record you can say as I did before last Dec, "I've gotten a speeding ticket your honor" .
His exact words, "NEVER? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, case dismissed"

As a person with a heavy right foot , I know that the reciprocity thing does exist between at least some states, more so now that states' computer systems talk with each other, especially neighboring states. I had a ticket in PA once that showed up on my MD drivers record. But I don't think it assessed points; I think the MD code is points are assigned for in-state violations. I'm happy that I've not actually had a roadside conversation with a gendarme in the last seven years. Well, ok, there was that one conversation three years ago when the tear on the cheek of this blue-eyed blonde got me a verbal warning.
My rule: always go to court. Half the time the cop doesn't show up so it's dismissed. The rest of the time, the judge lowered the fine and reduced (or eliminated) the points just because I showed up and looked like a responsible person (fooled them again!). I once drove three hours through a blinding snowstorm to get to Nowhere, Pennsylvania, and the judge ruled guilty but said no fine no points just for my effort. And my favorite line (that's not a lie) that does seem to help with the judge is "I have a clean driving record, your honor." Meaning "I have no tickets in the last five years" -- because in MD you can have older than 5 year records expunged; I think they actually do roll off the record automatically after 5 years here.
My advice is that if you MUST get a speeding ticket, get it from one of those roadside cameras. In several states (MD and DC at least), the registered owner of the car has to pay the fine, but since they can't prove who was driving the car, no points and it doesn't show up on your driving record. So I'll admit that the blonde thing also works against me (oops, I forget things quickly) and I got not one, not two, but yes THREE of these surprises in the mail from the same spot on Rt. 295 in D.C.

easier said then done.
As for us men, I find that respect goes a long way. I frequently use the word sir, and sorry. If they make a comment on your car then your as good as off the hook. Just dont get cocky and brag on how fast you drive it or who you raced. Take the "its a money pit thats leaving my family hungry" approach. Just may win a couple of sympathy points.
And thank you Kathy. You always say the nicest things about my avatars

Good points, rhudeboy! Avoid the ticket at the scene to begin with -- and you're right, the humble/remorseful/respectful approach has worked for me more than any tears ever would.
And remember, that state trooper might just have his own Porsche in the garage at home. One of the members of PCA/Chesapeake Region is indeed a state trooper with a fairly recent GT3!!!! And he's one of the top auto-x guys in the region. (hmmm, trooper salaries must be better than I thought!!!).

I'll share this story of my last ticket...
Got a ticket in 2000 on I95, right near the old Vet stadium. Phila cop pulled me doing about 85 in a 55. I had been doing well past 100 just a few miles earlier. I just got my first 944 and forgot about rules for a couple of days... Anyway, I was floored when he advised, "Contest it. o to court, pay you fine, and the points will come off. The city gets it's money, and everyone will be happy..." Honest cop or not, I did what I was told.
So I took a personal day and off to Phila. Traffic Court I went. I arrived in a suit and they walked me around the metal detectors because the operator assumed I was a lawyer.
Inside the courtroom it was Darwin's waiting room. (me included) All walks of life and all shapes and sizes. One after another, up they went to see the judge. Half of the cases boiled down to, "Do you have receipts to show you made the repair to your truck? No more tar pots overturning, please!" Most guys had no receipts, and they were nailed on the spot. Pay up! I could hear them being played out by an imaginary combo, like the Tonight Show band with a hangover.
My number did not come up, and His Royal Heinous went on lunch. During lunch, the Bailif offered plea deals to all sinners of the speeding ilk, and when the judge returned to the bench, he pronounced a group reprimand and bade us all to "Slowdown. We don't want to see you back here again!"
That was my last ticket.
