Speaking of signal green....
#1

Some of you may have seen the very unique signal green 968 cab in the for sale section of this site. Well, I got my new issue of autoweek and saw that a dealer ordered up a new 997 in that color. Here is a link to the car. What do you think? I think the black interior with the green on the 997 works better then the navy blue on the 968.

Wow, that is certainly an attention grabber! Too much for me, but that's why I don't want a red car either. Rather not be noticed as I enjoy my Porsche. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Haha, that was my father-in-laws old car. He has a collection of signal green cars. It was a paint to sample car, with the black wheels. We also have a set of 19" Techarts and 19" RUF's that match. It has the full aero package on it which of course wasn't cheap. The funny thing though, if you want to go look at it, the aero package was installed post delivery as when it was purchased the aero kit wasn't available. So about $6000 later, if you accidentally try to raise the tail (as in the original 997S), it freaks out because it tries and tries . Very beautiful car though. We just traded our personal black C4S to them when we picked up our 06' RS4. Great cars, but the 2000 mile break-in is a bitch. That was the sole reason why my father-in-law traded it in. Matching it was an originally ordered signal green 965 Turbo and an 89 G50 1979 RS replica car. He has a fine collection of rare cars right now - 1000 mile RS America, 17km (not thousand miles, 17 original km) 1997 993 GT2EVO, that 89 Replica, another 89 rally car, a 285whp 914-6, and a few more that are in progress.

Wes

P.S. I have attached a picture of the garage when I met my fiance. Coming from a car guy, I thought my collection was decent. Boy was I shown the ropes!

Edit - I just called Ed, his 89 is not signal green, its Viper Green, and this was paint to sample ordered Viper Green. Not sure if anyone can correlate the two colors, but I know thats his car, and the pictures in the light are decieving. It was a tad more green than that in person, but still looks almost Signal to me.

I would also like to add that if anyone is seriously interested, the dealer you want to talk to is Michael Falcone (pronounce falconie). He's a really good guy. You can also speak to Ray Joseph at RPM Sports Cars for a few of the older cars as well. Just about every car on Ray's inventory has seen our garage.

Wes, the car is not new? It is a 2006 and has only 157 miles on it and listed as new but you say your FIL purchased it and then traded it in already?

I saw the car when I was in Richmond for a meeting in early May. I'm sorry if I hurt any feelings when I write this, but, it looked ricey to me.

Best,

Hey, whakiewes, please don't take this the wrong way - but if your wife ever tires of you, I'd like to marry her.

Me. too! Maybe your FIL needs someone to wash those cars. I'm a pretty good detailer and a great cook.

Haha...you guys make me laugh...this is my third time trying to post...every like 15 seconds the page keeps updating for some reason and I loose what I type so I am making it short...detailer is taken care of and unfortunantely there is no fortune left because of the car flipping hobby, so I am stuck having to work to afford what quite possible be the most expensive princess...maybe queen now in the world.

Anyways... the car is definantly Viper Green. I talked with him in depth about it. He buys and sells probably 3 to 4 cars a month through EuroClassics after blowing out our local Porsche dealer. Michael is very easy to work with...although they are a smaller dealership and don't get the first allocations, he does have a 997 Turbo and a GT3 comming.

To the 157 miles...that is what he does. He buys and trades and sells cars on a daily basis. He just traded our 997 C4S for an RS4, which I can't argue with as the RS4 is a ton of fun and much more practical when our other car is my caged 968. He has had about a dozen 997's, and always gets rid of them because of the super stringent break-in...maybe he forgets. I have tons of pictures if people would like to see, but among his other cars is a fully carbon fiber turbo Elise, Caterham Fireblade, Lotus Europa with some oomph, about a dozen custom choppers and trikes, SL55, 525i, S600, E30 M3 track car...gosh there are more that I can't even think of. I could write stories. He also just acquired a 924GTS Cup Car. Really interesting with a beautiful cage although I lap slightly faster than it.

The RS America is his longest kept car. It has exactly 1009 miles on it, and sits next to the GT2EVO with 17km on it. He won't sell either car. Weird...he trades Lambos, SLR's, CGT's, etc... like they are nothing, but won't trade those cars. Something about classic Porsches that makes them irresistable. The funniest thing was when I rolled up in my 968...he had no idea about it. He owned a 944 Turbo, but after that went straight to the air cooled.

Wes

P.S. - The moral of the story for people like me that hate reading...if you need to buy a new car, contact me first. I probably can get you a brand new car without the initial hit. Also if you would like any reviews on any Porsche pretty much ever made, I would be happy to assist you!

I would also like to add that the reason Falconie can resell that car as new is because he uses a dealers license for all of the cars. They are all taged and licensed, so it will show through carfax and the DMV, but there has never been a new title issued. So the reason whey people like this is because he takes a car, drives if for a week, pays say $5000 for 50k dollar car, or 10k for that 997, and then returns it for something else or maybe nothing. So the dealer makes more money for a little time. I mean the cars are mint, so its not like they are tracked or dinged.

That's quite a story. It reminds me of something I learned when I was in the oil business. Modified to fit, it goes like this:

Q: How do you make a small fortune in the auto trading business?

A: Start with a large fortune.
