I bought a set of Champion RG5 Monolights, 18X8/10. I had a set of 255/285 that I put on to see how it worked, and of course the fronts were about 10mm too wide, and about 5mm to tall so I am ordering some new rubber tonight.
BUT, if my luck hasn't run out, I had the car up, pulled the 16's, tested the 18's, and then pulled the 18's back off to hear CAAA-PLUUUNNKKK. Like a serious testament to my luck, jack was in the rear, stand in the front. Stand buckled, jack gave out from what I am guessing what the blunt force comming down from the jackstand. Needless to say, right now my car's front bumper is on the ground . Like I am beyond pissed. I have done ATLEAST 50 sets of wheels in the last year, and this was the first time this has ever happened. Bumper is pretty much ruined, or atleast going to need some body work , but thankfully right now that is all that I can see that is damaged. Appears it took 99% of the force, and the brake rotor backing plate took the other 1%. Friend is on the way with a lowboy jack, scissor jack, etc... Any ideas...the car is too low to fit any jack that I have or have ever seen underneath it. I think what we are going to end up doing is jacking the back about 1-2", then putting the scissor on the rear side where my jack is stuck.
Fun times! Just needed to vent a little.
