SINGLE FRAME WIND DEFLECTOR
#1

Hello: I am considering the purchase of a wind deflector for my 95 Cab. An online search revealed that there are 2 types---double frame and single frame. It took me a while to understand the difference as I initially thought that the double frame units were simply 'stronger, heavier metal' than the single frame. However after several email exchanges with a company in the Netherlands Cabrio Supply I understand the difference. The double frame units are just that, one frame for the wind deflection and one frame that extends to the rear of the car and connects to the rear seats. The thing is my car doesn't have rear seats. Cabrio Supply confirmed that the double frame units will not fit my car and they recommended the single frame unit. These units have a mesh that extends rearward and looks to connect somewhere with velcro. There instructions are not clear in this regard. Here is a link to the single frame unit: https://www.cabriosupply.com/porsche-944...-1989-1995

My question is: has anyone had any experience with the single frame/mesh units and are they satisfactory?

PS. These units are shipped direct from the Netherlands with very $$$ shipping so it is important to get it right.

Thanks to all that respond.

Bob

I just had a look on the website, looking into the installation manuals you can use both.

The double frame unit you need to fix behind the rear seats, if you don't have these seats you would still be able to fix them at the rear.

They are not secured at the backrest of the rear seats.

Also checked if I could be of any help for you, but due to the size being just over 1 meter I can't find a way to send it cheaper towards you.

Not even taken into account the price they will charge me to send it to my home which cost only € 8,00.

Sorry I didn't put it right on paper.

You don't have to fix the bracket at the back of the rear seat, you can also fix it onto the back of the car where normally the seats are.

I have a roll bar/chassis stiffener in my cab, and the stock deflector didn't play well with the bar, so I took the deflector apart and I fabricated brackets that attach the top part of the deflector to the harness crossbar ports on the roll bar. Problem solved, and it is easy to fold down when needed.

Here is the explanation I received regarding the mesh. I really don't understand what the purpose of the mesh is and I am afraid that it will just flop around in the wind.

Hello: What is the purpose of the mesh and does it attach to something? What is the something? I looked at all your pictures but cannot come to a conclusion. Does it stretch out to the rear of the car or is it tucked in behind the seat?

The bottom mesh comes with a Velcro strip, which you can stick behind the front seats, or the rear of the car. Whatever has your preference. :-)

I checked the link to Pelican. Wow. I didn't pay much more than that for my 968  Big Grin

to me it looks like the photos they show on the website show both a rear seat install and a rear ledge install - I wonder why the difference in price between this one and the pelican offering. Personally, wind as never been an issue in the cab for us (I'm bald and the wife uses a head scarf).

It seems like it would also limit usage of the rear ledge as far as package placement when out and about.

For 1200 I would rather go buy something that goes bang. Just my two cents.
