Wind Deflector Installation
#1

May sound silly, but I have a real Porsche 968 wind deflector but no instructions on how it's installed. It's not obvious, but it can't be too tough. Can anyone help with a description, photos, etc? Would love to get it in the car!

Hi Chris...haven't seen you since the 968 Celebration in Great Falls, Va in 2005, and not on this forum in ages. Hope all is well where you are. If this doesn't make sense, PM me and I'll send you me # and I'll talk you through it.

As far as I can tell, the hook at the end of the elastics hook onto the seat back hinges.

Usually, I poke the large legs into the side plugs

Hook the straps behind the hinges (make sure they are out of the way enough to put the seat backs in place)

tighten the big legs up until it holds together

Put the seat backs into place

put the little legs in the crack left by the the seat backs

Tighten the large legs

I have no idea if I'm 100% correct, but it seems to work...

Worst instructions ever from Porsche....

Best of Luck,

Jay

Because I have the Roll Bar/Chassis Stiffener in my cab, the original mounting points didn't work. So I fabricated a couple of plates to mount the top half of the deflector to the threaded holes in the roll bar.

Consequently I have the bottom portion of the deflector and the mounting pieces left. Let me know if you are missing any of the parts and I will see if I have them left over.

Good luck!

Thanks, Jay! Been way too long. Still have the car (of course), but my racing became much more serious and monopolized much of my Porsche time over the past 15 years. Promise to be better about getting on here in the future! Hope you're doing well.
