If I leave the doors locked for an entire week ( heading for Mexico for a bit of R&R [<img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/biggrin.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />][8D] ) will the blinking light on the door lock stem be enough to have a material affect /drain on the battery after a 24/7 "on" period ?

Probably not, but it wouldn't hurt to disconnect the battery ground cable while you are gone. Good luck and enjoy Mexico, they have some wonderful beer and I love the spicy food! Bob Blackwell.

When I first got my car the alarm/aftermarket stereo would discharge the battery in about a week. I got a trickle charger and reconditioned the battery and now it can go over 2 weeks easily -- actually i don't know how long it can go since I haven't had a dead battery in over a year. I think the PO just didn't drive the car enough and the battery was chronically low until I reconditioned it.



The best idea I have heard for keeping the 968 safe while gone an extended period is to simply remove the DME relay.

got back, everything working perfectly, gave the car a hug and then took it for a spin right away. not being able to drive it for a week was just...painful.



no 968 sightings in Puerto Vallarta - darn.
