Side panel Euro turn signals
#1

I have seen these on a few European cars and I'm wondering what their deal is. Is it possible to have these installed on an the US version?

I don't mean the Euro turn signals that everyone usually talks about, i'm talking about the small lenses behind the wheels that I put a red square around in the picture.

They are on the PET but the part number is unknown...

Yeah I've been wondering about that too...yet another dream mod for my dream 968.

They've been mandatory in Europe for years. Not only do they look sweet (esp on this car) they're safer; sometimes they cant see your front or rear signals (assuming theyre paying attention at all, that is).

My fathers Volvo 1998 S70 has little "Volvo" plastic caps covering the holes where they would fit, these days most European makers just leave em on for export on this side of the pond.

Our 968s don't have that little plug though...so guess you're looking at some serious bodywork, i.e., a sweet looking and effective mod...but sadly perhaps not affordable for many.

Yes they are available I think PorscheG96 did that mod a while back. They are available through the dealer or through shops like http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/pors...ights_kits.html I think it was a fairly easy mod which does require drilling.

Thanks for the link, certainly the parts themselves are cheap...and if its a simple two, three hour job in shop, Id likely go for it. You gotta really like those lights alot though hehe, mabye theyre not everybody's cup of tea.

This is one mod that's been on my list for some time. I don't know when, but I will be doing this. If anyone gets to it before me, I'd love to know how it went.

The standard side indicator repeaters are rectangular and stick out too much IMO.

I've just replaced mine with clear ovals from this site at £16 (~$30)

You can see them fitted on the pic in 'my garage' <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Eric,

That link only displays lens not a wiring kit. I was also considering this mod, but will probably bite the bullet and get the parts from Porsche. What I haven't been able to find the dimensions for correct positioning. I can estimate based on pictures, but I usually like to be a little more exact...

Here are the P/N's:

- Harness, side turn signal = 944.612.103.00

- Blub Holder = 161.949.111

- Lens = 161.949.117

- Blub = N.017.753.2

These are all Hella parts, so you might want to check with them too.

The amber one is P/N 2BM 003 647-801, and the black design version (the one I have on my car - looks great) is P/N 2BM 006 759-801. Both items come with the wiring harness.

Se the Hella Online Catalogue.
