Shifter
#1

Where is the best place to purchase a new shifter? I've seen a couple places, but really don't want to buy without some input. Also, I saw a place that sold the shifter boot without the knob. On my 92 it's like one piece.

You looking for OEM, or OEM looking replacement? Most places sell a leather boot, that stretches over the knob. Use your old shift pattern insert, or buy a new one. Porsche will sell you the whole unit. Last i checked it was like 5-600, maybe more. I forget. They wont sell you just the boot tho. Youll most likely be wanting to replace the rubber boot inside too.

Do you have a link to Sunset Porsche? I searched that and it just came back as a Porsche dealership.

I'm having a hard time buying stuff for this car due to the fact that I want to see it before I buy....and as you know, there are so few of these around that I don't know what I'm buying!!!

For Sunset Porsche I use: Porscheparts@sunsetimpports.com. They have been great with the best prices and no tax as well.

are you looking for the shifter itself (the metal armature onto which the knob slides) or the shift knob?

i have about a half dozen of the OEM shifters here, since many have come over to have the new short shifter installed and left their stock one here

but i have no knobs or boots

ah - i need to replace mine too, as it is now showing wear - i haven't decided where i would get mine either - i want it perfect, and don't want to deal with the bulging seam i've seen in some replacements - i'll probably pop for the one from sunset

I'd recommend AGLA - Alan Gun Leather Accessories. The website if AGLAUSA.COM. He has all of the factory colors and will sell you a complete kit or just the boot.
