I removed the center console trim to open up the shifter arrangement for an overhaul of the bushings, what I found is evidence of someone being in there long ago who assembled the parts incorrectly.
First off, the two shims found on either side of the rod (part number N0273812) were missing altogether, which largely explains the slack I always felt excessive in the shifter. Trouble is, Porsche no longer sells these shims. Does anyone know what is the thickness of these shims? This would facilitate greatly the task of finding adequate washers.
Second, one of the cup springs was located on the passenger side of the rod. I have replacements, but looking at the diagram I'm not 100% sure which way they are mounted next to one another. Is it the outer diameter that makes contact, or inner?
Thanks for any help!
