She's in my garage!
#1

The 1994 Speed Yellow 968 Cabriolet is resting comfortably in my garage!

Picked it up Friday afternoon in MI and promptly drove back that night. Stopped in Clearfield, PA for Friday night and was home in Doylestown, PA, by 9:30 Sat morning!

What a relaxing drive! The car is great!

Since getting home Saturday, I have already swapped out the turn signals and bumperettes for the ROW versions, installed my RSB exhaust tip, and updated my airbox mounts to eliminate the stupid rubber press fit thingy! I also fixed the batwing which was "torn" from the passenger's side by the previous owner. I now just need to remove the paint marks from the parking lot concrete stop.

Washed her for the first time on Sunday. I hope to remove the seats this weekend and give the interior a thorough vacuuming. Did I mention the car is great?! It is very smooth and very comfortable to drive. I hope to have it registered tomorrow so I can enjoy some top down drives! (Right now I have the MI temp transit tag in the rear window- if I put the top down, the car has no identification!).

I'll snap some photos. The car looks really good.

I also have my 993 on its way to the machinist. As soon as I get that back, I can begin that mod.

There really isn't too much to address:

1) May have to adjust the PS belt- exhibits a little whine initially but goes away quickly when it warms up.

2) Rear shocks are original and need to be replaced. Might have to do the fronts too.

3) Car pulls a little to the right- not major, but will need to have this looked at. There have been no accidents so no worries there.

4) I have to pull the undertray off- there is evidence of two small leaks- one near the PS pump and one on the other side. I see no evidence that these are current issues and maybe they are remnants from previous things. Once I get the batwing off, I will clean up the areas and monitor for continuing leaks.

5) Car has an aftermarket radar system- I need to remove that because the original owner had some of the switch covers bastardized. Previous owner never worried about it so he left the switch covers as is.

6) Car also has an old keyless entry system installed. I will remove this one and install the new one with the "switchblade" remotes.

7) There are some very minor interior cosmetic issues that I will take care of as well. I'll be placing an order with Sunset soon!

That's pretty much it!

So who wants buy my coupe?! Contact me and you'll get the deal of a lifetime! 4 cars with a 2 car garage is not conducive to healthy living!!!!!

Bob-

You did? I hate Verizon sometimes! Will call in a minute or two- and by the way, what the hell are you doing up so early? Don't you Californians sleep until like 9-10am everyday?!!!!!

Another thing I need to do with the cab- pull the cam cover and get a baseline on the chain, pads, and cams. Will order the gaskets and seals or may just take it over to Pete's.

I should be able to take one or two tonight before I have to pick up my daughter from ballet.

Thanks for the offer for the blanks, Smoke! I should have enough spares lying around, but I will let you know if I need any- much appreciated (you too Flash!)!

Smoke- I still owe you a phone call- I haven't forgotten, just lazy!

Let me know when you're coming to Pete's. Hopefully it will be a weekend and I can see your baby in person.

Jay-

If the weather holds out, I'll be there early this Friday afternoon. We work an extra hour Mon-Thurs so our Fri is done at noon. Since I'm only 15-20 minutes away from Pete, I stop there on Fridays often. (... just to harass the poor guy and see what goodies he has... one of these days he'll make a mistake and leave either the TRS or the Firehawk outside with the keys in and I'm gone!)

If it is (or will rain), I won't bring the cab.

He he he... Maybe! Seriously though, I am sure there will be times where I get stuck in the rain, but I will do my best to avoid them if at all possible. And it's not because of not wanting to drive in the rain... It's more an issue of me not wanting to clean it after it rains! Remember- I am lazy!

Thanks Lone- glad to be back and glad to have had an uneventful trip. I did miss some serious photo ops though- I was too busy focusing on getting home...

You all probably think the car doesn't even exist!!

Hmmm...we work an extra hour Mon-Thursday (true) so we can work 5 more hours a week and not get paid for it....interesting notion.

I hope you mean your 993 steering wheel , unless there is an air cooled Porsche that we don't know about!

As I said to Anchorman, hope you can take some pictures and give some specs on the 993 machining etc. and post a DIY on the 993 steering wheel install.

Oh, and congrats on the new wheels !

Looks really cool. I have always liked yellow sports cars. I tell my kids that if a boat (we spent a lot of time on the water) is yellow it damned well better be fast. Not sure I could drive one myself but they are very eye catching.

Jeff how rare is this bird in the registry?

Good catch Bracer- yep, 993 steering wheel.

Here are some photos so you guys give me a break already... !

One shows the ROW turn signals (well, one of them at least!) and another shows the RSB exhaust tip (highly recommended strictly from a "bling" point of view- I really makes the @ss end pop!).

Rxter- I believe Jeff only has five (5) speed yellow cabs in the US- there may be more, but they're not in his registry. Three (3) of the five are on the east coast- PA and NJ to be specific. Another is out in CA I believe. Not sure where the 5th is....

Thanks Rxter-

Straight up butta!

It is, as they say, off da heezy fo' sheezy....

It is supposed to rain here tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, so it looks like she won't be venturing out until Sun/Mon. Hopefully the rain will let up for Sunday so I can get the poor thing vacuumed.

What about "BUHTA" or "STR8BUTTA" for a license plate? My wife would kill me! HA! I'll have to see if PA will allow those...

Thank you Sir!

I am really hoping to be able to vacuum the inside the weekend. She needs it.

And if time permits I want to start preparing my list of bits and pieces that I need to order.

Great looking car. Looks good in your garage, much better than in the other guys driveway.

I love speed yellow.

I actually think the seller has a bit of seller's remorse... He wife is not happy he sold it either!

I do believe he is happy he sold it to someone who is "into" 968's and not just some run-of-the-mill buyer who just wanted a Porsche.

The best part about the whole thing:

After I washed it on Sunday, I took my wife outside to see it and she was very impressed with it overall. Nothing but wonderful sentiments about it, which made me feel great! She's not a car person so this was small victory in my quest to own every car I have ever wanted....
