where did it go? what happened to the....
#1

in case you were wondering, yes, i have been at it again - i've been cleaning up the look of the index page, and doing some housekeeping

i took some time today (about 8 hours) to go through more threads and sort them out - i still have a lot to do, but i managed to get to about 500 of them and put them where they belong - i also created a LOT more subforums into which to sort them - the search engine has very real limitations that made it hard to read up on things you wanted to learn about, and this was the only solution i could come up with to prevent it from becoming another stacking mess of repetitive threads

the subforums string that used to be on the index page is no more - now you will need to click on each main category, and it will take you to the list of subforums - each of those will have a description of what you will find there - poke around - you will find a lot of threads you did not know existed - i know i did - there are now categories for all the things we all talk about all the time - it makes a lot more sense now, and is a lot easier to read about things

i am working on the chat room, and should have that up and running again in the next day or so

seriously though - cruise around in the different forums - you'll be amazed at the stuff you will find - "view new posts" won't get you there - there will be lot of new stuff popping up soon too

Flash: Excellent!!!!! the way you did the "repair and technical" section, makes much more sense

if the other sections , expecially the jumble in "triage and Diagnose," could be set up the same......

thanks guys - it was just making me nuts trying to find specific threads that i had remembered - trying to figure out which key words would give me that thread, but not 50 others, was getting difficult - lol - you guys are a bit prolific

xrad - um - was that a joke? that was about the only section i didn't mess with yesterday - i had already sorted that one out

i will be working on the triage and diagnosis section as soon as i can figure out how that one is going to sort out - it's more of a dumping spot for unknown problems, but some really good ones pop up - i'll start off by pinning some of them into a section of "symptoms of common issues"

and the work continues...................

hmmmm, no joke...might need some more work....compared to 'repair and tech,' it seems unorganized and difficult to find things....

all the items that belong there are there, but sorting them into bins like electrical mechanical (repair and tech section) would be helpful.

Everything else looks great and easy to use!

yeah - the problem is that things in that category often start out as one thing, and then end up as something entirely different, and you have to then read the entire thread to figure out that it did or did not apply to your problem

i'm still pondering this one
